My wife and I visited Colyton for a wedding and stayed four nights at the historic Old Bakehouse. The inn was comfortable, perfectly clean, had excellent Wi-Fi, and was located conveniently in the Devon County area with easy access to nearby Seaton, Lyme Regis, Beer, and the Axminister train station. The common areas were wonderful, and the owners, Steve and Fiona, were without equals. Steve greeted us with a smile, was very welcoming and helped us to our room (after a long journey traveling from the US) while also explaining necessary details about the room, breakfast, common area, etc. Our room (No. 1) was very comfortable, had a kettle with tea, coffee bags, and biscuits which were replenished daily. The room’s ensuite bathroom (also refreshed daily) was appropriately spacious and supplied with soft towels along with eco-friendly soaps and shampoos. The breakfast was superb with a choice of made to order traditional full English breakfast or other options that included poached egg with salmon, selected fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, jams, and juices. The dining room was a pleasant area with an adjoining lounge and a superb collection of books and vinyl records for listening and relaxation.
The Old Bake house is a hidden gem in Colyton and meets all the needs of a perfect weekend getaway or holiday. The owners, Steve and Fiona, were accessible and extremely helpful in providing information regarding local activities. We will stay here again the next time we visit.

A really charming hotel with something of a boutique feel. Great location by the river (nice weather meant sitting outside was a bonus). The walk into town is steep and might bother people who are less able but it is quick and convenient otherwise.
Great chalet, great location and great hosts. Chalet is in a nice and quiet area. It is a short drive to Dartmouth and Blackpool sands beach. I found our stay very relaxing and everything you could need was in the chalet. The chalet was spotlessly clean. The hosts sent us all the information we needed promptly and were also contactable if needed. There is lots to do in the area but equally the park is well kept and maintained if you fancy a day reading your book and sitting in the sun. Highly recommend.
Great location. Quiet surroundings for a city centre, but….
Welcoming and helpful staff, quiet room, great location, clean, nice boutique hotel style decor, comfy bed, nice toiletries, coffee machine in room, kettle in room, water in room, good coffee and tea selection in room, amazing breakfast
Great location to reach so many lovely Jurassic coast locations quickly. Fantastic hosts that get the perfect balance between giving you space & caring for you. Really lovely people with exceptional local knowledge to guide you. Excellent breakfast with so many special options - eggs, home made jam, stewed & lovingly prepared fresh fruits that changed daily. A beautiful & comfortable house with nicely spacious & private rooms - Thankyou
Peaceful, quiet, calm, very comfortable. Super comfy bed and all you need in the usual bedroom and en suite set up. The "extra" was having a lovely private sitting room with a log burner fired up by the hosts for me. in the eveing so i could work or relax reading. The locality is good for touring and visiting Rosemoor, the coast and historic sites in N Devon. And i should mention excellent breakfasts and friendly hosts as well.
Historic and beautifully preserved. Quaint. Excellent location re:rail station/ shops/ my work/ city centre. I loved that i could open my window to ventilate the room. Staff was extremely kind and went up and beyond to make my stay fabulous, incl domestics. Comfy mattress/warm room/quiet nights/good shower 👍🏻
Very comfortable and quiet twin room, spacious enough. Tea and coffee making facility always welcomed. Beds were good, bathroom excellent. Modern and clean. Great location for the city centre and Quay. Bag storage room is available and useful.
