We booked a double room, the big and comfy bathroom was on the floor, also there was a sauna in the apartment! I had nice relaxing time reading in the living room with Biblioteck, eating breakfast at the dining room and looking in the fully equipped kitchen. 5 minutes walk from the city centre, 10 min to the train station.

With a private bathroom, rooms at the guest house also boast free WiFi. Very nice guesthouse in small village, kitchen for all guests was perfect, coffee for free (automat), comfortable rooms!

The location was fantastic and the people really warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for families with kids and those wanting a relaxing holiday.

Offering a restaurant and a bakery, Hirschen Wald is located in the village of Wald and features rooms with free WiFi. Guests can park their cars free of charge on spot and enjoy a breakfast at the inn every morning. The location is exceptional, one a one lane road in the mountains of Appenzell. It was mid April but we had a lot of snow every day, but the roads were plowed and the hotel is very accessible, even in poor weather. The hotel is old but the interior is updated and the rooms are large, modern, and very clean. The food is excellent and they cooked two unique Swiss items for us that were not on the menu. The staff is exceptional.

Located 1 km from the centre of Gais high above Lake Constance, Bären - Das Gästehaus is a small and stylish boutique hotel surrounded by gardens. It offers free Wi-Fi and free private parking.

The wood-panelled rooms at Bären combine modern minimalist design with traditional Alpine features. They offer modern tiled bathrooms and flat-screen TVs. We had an excellent stay at Bären. The breakfast was amazing with many local and home-made products.

Surrounded by hills and mountains, the family-run Hotel Landgasthaus Neues Bild, Eggerstanden occupies a historic building, a 10-minute drive from the centre of Appenzell.

It features a restaurant with a summer terrace, serving Swiss and international cuisine. The restaurant is closed on Monday evenings, on Tuesdays and on Wednesdays. The hotel was fabulous, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was the best we had in all of Switzerland. If you are into hiking this is the hotel for you. We give our stay two thumbs up!
