Calm, quiet, excellent pool and brilliant hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was to die for - Loads of different continental options with regional products. The Quinta is situated close to Castelo de Vide e Marvão which are lovely places to visit, however is in a remote enough location for it to feel like a break from a busy life.

Absolutely lovely to relax by the gurgling river in the heat of summer. Only drawback was the very spotty wifi and 4g coverage, but that forced us to relax even more

Each cosy room at Varanda do Alentejo is comfortably furnished with an armchair, minibar and telephone for personal use. All rooms have cable TV and a private bathroom with bathtub.

Accommodating a total of 24 people, the Train Spot Guesthouse offers different types of accommodation ranging from double rooms with private bathrooms, family rooms and apartments with a garden. Breakfast is served daily, which can be enjoyed in common areas such as the kitchen, living room, terrace and gardens, or even on the train line. Located in the quiet village of Beirã, Train Spot is just a few minutes from the medieval village of Marvão (the highest in Portugal), Castelo de Vide, the Roman ruins of AMMAIA, the natural pools of the River Sever, and many other magical places from Marvão.

Amazing 1926? building and stay at a now inactive building that is part of the closed Train Station next door. It looks like the Train Station but the ground floor has a large room with a fireplace that was used as a cafeteria eating area. No trains run on the railroad tracks and the location is very quiet day or night. The old kitchen where you make your own breakfast with owner-supplied bread, eggs, etc. has a fantastic original cast-iron range stove and huge marble sink. The entire ground floor is original. The second floor has upgraded bedrooms and bathrooms. Great exterior like Train Station with original Portuguese hand painted blue/white tiles. Hotel-recommended, nearby restaurants are excellent. The man and his sister who manage the hotel are friendly and very helpful. They are great hosts.

Vila Maria has spacious rooms with antique wooden furniture and tiled floors. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the leisure lounge.

I arrived during a torrential rain storm. I received a warm and helpful welcome. This is not a hotel but a well appointed, cosy home. I very much enjoyed my stay and, should I visit the area again, this would be my first consideration for accommodation. The breakfast table was groaning under the weight of a generous selection of savoury and sweet (often homemade) selections. You would need to travel a great distance and need much luck to find a breakfast comparable with this.

the historic building is in great shape and is very well taken care off, the decoration suites the kind of place in a way that doesn’t make it feel like an hold hotel but a modern one in an old building.

This hotel is situated in a very remote location but this adds to its unique charm. The room had air conditioning, a TV, bathroom with toiletries, bath with shower. The bed was extremely comfortable. The restaurant provides a huge selection of meals to suit all tastes and everything is cooked to order. The Pork Loin was delicious and came with fresh local produce

Great location in the region, with access to main sights within 15/20 minutes drive, Spain including. Despite the central location to Portagem town, the street it is located in is a quiet one. The bedroom was cosy. Great balance for value/cost.

Lovely room with four-poster bed and private terrace. Excellent breakfast with local cheeses, prosciutto and preserves. View from the terrace would been amazing but an unusual storm shrouded the whole little village in cloud. Just a short walk to the castle.

The location was cool, quiet and beautiful. The room was small, but comfortable and well-organized, and it had a superb private veranda shaded by a huge pine tree. I spent many happy hours relaxing and working there. The breakfasts were also well organized. I rather liked the clever way Chinese soup spoons were used to serve small portions of jam.

Lovely, spacious, clean & characterful room in a charming & historic building, situated in a great location. Car can be parked a few metres away. Lovely little store downstairs with specialist local foods, etc. Joăo is a fantastic host - and even mailed me something I foolishly left behind! Complete star 👍

The location is amazing, with a charming view over the ancient railway station, which is not working any longer, only for tourists 2 hour tours on cycling cars on the rails. On the top of it the amazing hills with the medieval castle of Marvão on the top. Dalila is an amazing hostess, showing all the property around and serving an excellent breakfast with delicious local products.
