It was the most peaceful place I’ve ever stayed at. Not a soul around. Ponies in a paddock next door, cows in a back paddock to watch from your couch in the sunroom. And the beach. A one minute walk from the front door. I walked the length of it time and again and saw the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets. If you’re searching for peace and quiet, far from the noise of the modern world, then this is the place to book.

Jon & Maria were perfect hosts: very discreet, very attentive to our needs, very supportive to provide information. They suppliedd also dinners, cooked fresh every day, with many options to choose from and care to help for food intolerances. Pasionate about photography, Jon decorated the B&B with some of his shots, depicting the local fauna or landscapes. Room was cozy and perfectly clean, with a large private bathroom. Jon's dog is the happiest dog I've ever seen, so friendly and cute.

Backaskaill Farmhouse was the best holiday home we ever stayed. Its interior was impeccably designed, with every detail thoughtfully considered to create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. One highlight was the private beach, where we could bask in the sun and enjoy the beauty of the coastline and the local wildlife of Sanday. To top it all off, the kind and attentive host made our stay even more delightful by helping us with everything and welcoming us with coffee, cake, fresh flowers and treats for our dog.
