The Half Moon Inn, hotel in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

Located in Ashington, 25 km from Northumbria University, The Half Moon Inn provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the room (a twin for me) was a reasonable size but dark on one side due to no lighting. There was no hot water - as another has said, you have to turn the boiler on, it would have been helpful had this been explained at check-in. The bathroom was basic, no shelves for toiletries etc. The single beds need new mattresses; the ones on the beds are covered with an over-sized topper, not ideal although passable from a comfort point of view. Take ear plugs, the main road carries quite a lot of traffic. Evening meal was good, with an excellent menu choice. The breakfast was superb, definitely 10/10

The house was in a great location with a shop and free car park extremely close by. Really near the beach. There's a pizza takeaway just opposite. The street was quiet.
