The Mason's Arms is a lovely little village hotel/pub accommodation with great hosts/staff, very friendly, good humoured and helpful. I had a twin room which was clean and cosy and equipped with a kettle and hospitality tray with tea, coffee, biscuits etc. There was a good sized shower in the en suite which was very welcomed as I arrived by motorcycle and was very cold - the shower was excellent! The kitchens were closed on the night we stayed (mentioned on booking.com) but all was not lost as a mobile fish and chip wagon pays a visit the same day of the week, with a varied choice of fish/chips/chicken/haggis/sausage etc. Very tasty! The 'full English' the following day ticked all boxes. I've nothing bad to say about this property and would recommend it as a perfect base to explore the local castles and countryside.

Breakfast was delicious and the bar to eat in was comfortable
For travellers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms may be shared by other guests, and there is often shared space with the host.
The location was amazing, so quiet and tranquil, the cottage exceeded my expectations, we had everything we needed and the hosts were really lovely people!
The beds were the best I've slept in, super comfortable, no expense had been spared by the owners, just absolutely amazing place.
The Gables is a very elegant period property situated in the countryside 15 minutes from Berwick upon Tweed. The rooms and decor are perfectly matched and spotlessly clean. You couldn’t wish for better hosts than Angus and Claire as they make you feel right at home and Angus cooks an excellent breakfast or a cold option if you prefer. If you need help finding your way around the local area Angus has great advice to offer and the way to do it. It’s so warm and friendly you wish you had brought you slippers.
Welcoming and charming, and this applies equally to the property and the host, Angus! A great location, just minutes from the A1, but far enough to feel enveloped in the countryside. Lovely period furniture; tea in the drawing room and a terrace to enjoy the view. Perfect escape!
A most pleasant surprise during our car travel journey in the 'middle of nowhere' Duddo... A beautifully restored vicarage where Angus, a most charming host, provided us with access to the wonderfully decored family living room and the use to one of the nicest furnished and comfortable room/bathroom ever. The tasteful cooked breakfast was served in the dining room, accompanied by some great conversation on the historical home and the provenance of the special furnishings. Would certainly plan to go back, if ever in that area.
Charming old mansion, in the middle of nowhere, but still close enough to the coast, Berwick, Kelso, and the other attractions of the region. Lovely hosts. Great beds. Great Breakfast.
