The Riverside Inn, hotel in Chelmsford

The Riverside Inn is a converted 17th-century mill situated on the River Chelmer, just 5 minutes’ walk from Chelmsford town center and Rail Station.

I like the rustic style. It gave a cosy and warm feeling. The food and drinks were quite nice. The vegetarian pizza Garden Pizza, the cheese tasted not so good.

The room was absolutely lovely! Really comfy bed, bathroom facilities were great with everything you’d need i.e. towels and shower gel/shampoo, complimentary water and tea/coffee was really lovely and the smart tv with streaming services is a nice touch. Everything was clean and to a great standard. Location is perfect as you’re only minutes away from the train and bus stations.

Excellent location close to city centre (walking distance) with plenty of parking for hotel guests. Quiet. Lovely very helpful staff who responded positively and promptly to any request we made. Liked the tea and coffee making facilities in the room…not the couple of tea bags and sachets of instant coffee one often gets. Here in the room was a variety of herbal teas available as well as black tea, drinking chocolate and a capsule coffee maker with plenty of capsules. In the fridge every day was a small bottle of fresh milk.

The quaint ambiance of this ancient dwelling makes it a charming place to stay especially if visiting for a temporary reason. It is situated in a quiet residential area in close proximity to the city centre. The owner Peter is the most gracious host from ensuring he's there to greet you to attending to any other trip concerns you have.
