Clean and well appointed. The check in was accomplished by the bartender at the connected Black Horse pub. He was very welcoming and helped us get to our rooms with our bags. The room and en-suite were clean and modern. Security was emphasized. Parking was behind the pub. The price was reasonable.

Lovely roomy house for a family. I really appreciated the spatulas in the kitchen, which you rarely get anywhere! It's in a great location, quiet and just a few minutes walk from the centre of BA and there are no parking restrictions. The "night lights" were appreciated.

Sean is a great host! The accommodation is in a great location (you can literally see the trains stopping just at the back of the terrace, yet it’s super quiet, you can barely hear them, even with an open window). The room is nice, clean and tidy, the kitchen is fully equipped, the continental breakfast is varied, the check-in process was quick and straightforward. Highly recommended!

Home from home. Fresh bread, milk and cereals left which was a nice touch. Lovely, spacious, clean and cheaper than the big chain hotel ours friends were in around the corner. Great location for a quick trip to the beach and hackworth park.

Great location, quiet. I like that there's a bustop right beside the hotel! The staff were very warm and lovely, even went out of their way to check me into my room before the official check-in time. I liked the complimentary hot chocolate/tea/coffee and biscuits in the room, very thoughtful.

Easy drives to Durham and Barnard Castle and interesting houses/gardens in between. Stunning scenery. Friendly pub with very comfortable and smart bedrooms and enjoyable Thai food. Charming hosts. Very quiet. One of the few places I have stayed where the room temperature was just right. Very good shower. I didn't have breakfast as I ate at the places I was visiting.
