Altskeith Country House, hotel in Aberfoyle

Offering a garden and mountain view, Altskeith Country House is set in Aberfoyle, 10 km from Loch Katrine and 15 km from Lake of Menteith.

This was hands down the nicest place I have ever stayed. We only had one night but the scenery was breathtaking, you really are right on the Loch with mountains around and a tiny beach. The room was stunning, spotlessly clean and comfortable with an amazing shower. We had Room 2, which also corresponded to the best table in the restaurant. The food was worthy of a Michelin star, Yas made his own pastrami, smoked salmon, and beef brisket which all melted in the mouth. They mentioned selling it online, and I’ll be first in line! The breakfast was amazing, plenty to have and the service was so warm and friendly, very personal. Just a really, really special place.

Everything was perfect: Marion is a gentle and attentive hostess, she gave us very clear information to reach the place, a cozy b&b, surrounded by a beautiful garden. The breakfast (we tried English and continental breakfast) was homemade and it was delicious! We could eat in a marvelous pavilion in the garden. She gave us advises about a very good restaurant on our way to Glencoe.

The surroundings were beautiful, giving us the feeling of being on a farm, immersed in the charming Scottish countryside. The peaceful environment truly made our stay unforgettable. Highly recommend this place for anyone seeking a relaxing and authentic Scottish experience

We intend to stay again when next in this area

Location peaceful and tranquil; close to charming Aberfoyle; the amazing views from the lovely hotel verandah; the facilities such as the pool and saunas, the kayaking nearby; proximity to the loch. Also, the self catering apartments were roomy and comfortable, and the private sauna was a real surprise, and treat.
