A very cool place where you can really relax. The cottages are a bit remote, but for us that's only a plus, because you can actually hear the sounds of the jungle and observe nature. It was the beginning of our trip and even comparing the rest of the accommodations we really liked it. The perfect place to relax, beautiful cottages with a unique atmosphere. Beaches clean, manager welcomes you personally and tells you about a place, staff very nice and friendly. I had a very relaxing time there

Gaya Island is naturally very beautiful. On our stay we encountered lots of monkeys, monitor lizards and other wildlife. The boat transfer to the island is very simple and the crossing itself was nice and smooth.
On arrival, staff were very attentive and gave us a tour of the hotel. Our accommodation was clean and the architecture was beautiful.
We had to eat at the resort- you could get a boat elsewhere if you wanted to but it’s easier to stay. There are a few options but we stuck to the buffet each night. There weren’t loads of veggie options but we managed and the one night there was nothing veggie the chef cooked something especially for me which was delicious. The staff were genuinely put out that I couldn’t find something I wanted to eat and the fact they went out of their way to accommodate me was a nice touch.
We went to Tavagun bay to see the ‘beautiful’ beach and the marine centre. The marine biologist we spoke to was really friendly and informative, but we quickly discovered that he was deflated by what he was up against there.
Despite the pollution (which we saw all over Borneo) we had a truly amazing stay and actually extended our time there. It’s a great place to forget real life.

Tremendous breakfast in terms of quality and choice of food. The staff were amazing. The swimming pool was awesome as was the private beach with the turtle talk. The setting was perfect for utter relaxation.
The resort is located in an exclusive spot surrounded by nature and the villas are very comfortable and with great views. Staff are welcoming and try to be helpful. Food is good quality and there is a range of activities offered by the hotel. Private beach is the best spot for relaxing and snorkeling. Special thanks to Jovara from the reception staff who was the most helpful, nice, friendly of all staff. She made our stay much better!
Excellent facilities, location, service and rooms. I thought the eco nature of the resort was excellent especially the outstanding private beach, turtle sanctuary and coral growing. Loved being away from the day trippers too, but with all of the activities!
We loved our stay on Gaya Island. The rooms are massive with beautiful bathrooms, ours had an amazing view. Nice toiletries and robe and other little touches in the room. The food was excellent, the buffet and both the restaurants had a great selection which was all delicious. We really enjoyed the private beach and the snorkelling, it was gorgeous with lots of fish. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We loved it!
Nice villas surrounded by jungle and sea. Large pool perfect for swimming. Private beach at Tavajun Bay. Expertly guided activities that are either included or good value. Generally an interesting resort for naturalists. The people at their marine conservation and wildlife centers are doing an excellent job.
