Wow... What a find! I've stayed several times in Zona Colonial; but never at a hostel....I was impressed by Gato Colonial's perfect location, room size and cleanliness, fabulous roof terrace (watched Parrots 🦜 on the Tamarindo tree across the street!) and meeting other friendly guests staying there.... But, the BEST part of our stay was the manager, Claudia! She went out of her way to make my cousin and I feel welcome and let us tag along to an outdoor concert she and another guest were attending that night! She had just commissioned a beautiful mural on my room's door....Claudia is a tremendous asset to the property.....I WILL return!😁

The location was good - close enough to work to the historic part of the city. The neighbourhood felt safe. I didn’t use the pool, however it looked inviting.

I stayed many times at this hotel when I come to Santo Domingo, and I'm always happy with what I get. Small cozy apartment with a big bedroom and a small kitchen and fridge, super nice staff, perfectly located, and one the cheapest price in la Zona for this kind of hotels. On top of that the hotel has a super cute terrasse, and your room doesn't face the main street, which in Santo Domingo, is something that you would want :)

The location is spectacular. It is a block away from a busy street to walk and shop. Three blocks from a grocery store. Steps away from a wonderful cafe with the friendliest staff and the best desserts. The hotel staff is very responsive and very accommodating. I also liked that there was water already in the apartment, access to the hotel pool, and included breakfast.
