We liked everything about Freshwater Barn, it was perfect! Even though we were a little uncertain of our arrival time, Sophie was very accommodating and when we did, finally, arrive, the cottage was very welcoming with lamps lit and the heating on. (The cottage is actually very warm indeed and we found that we didn’t really need the heating on during our stay - just popping it on for about 20 minutes when we got back in the evenings). Sophie had even arranged some Christmas decorations as our stay was over the Christmas period. Everything was beautifully clean, and Sophie had helpfully provided a towel for our dog (although, thankfully, we had also brought plenty of our own as the fields were very muddy). Situated right next to the huge Benenden School estate, there are some beautiful walks, on public footpaths, right next door. For us, visiting from France to spend Christmas with our children for the first time in a couple of years, it was an ideal base from which to go out and visit them all. Finally, just to say that, although not large, the cottage is much bigger than it seems in the photos, which really do not do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful and of a very high standard.

Anne was a very friendly host. We had a welcome pack of a loaf of bread, butter, bacon and eggs upon arrival which was marvellous. The beds were incredibly comfy. Beautifully positioned to explore Ticehurst and the surrounding area.

All the staff were really welcoming - there were a lot of them actaully, so it was never difficult to ask anything or get help -They made us feel at home for the short stay. The rooms look to have been recently renovated to a high standard, some really nice touches that made it stand out from other similar places. (will keep these a secret or it spoils the fun!)

Well located for a short stay. The staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful at all times. We were found a restaurant table at very short notice on a busy Friday evening. The meal in the restaurant was delicious. The included breakfast was excellent with a good range of continental and traditional cooked options. The portions were very generous. Would definitely stay again.

It was a beautiful setting. Very nicely decorated, ample room for the 2 of us. A very cute 1 bedroom apartment - in what used to be a barn! The outside area was huge and generally really lovely (pretty flowers etc.). The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. It had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. There was even a fan in case of hot weather - and we definitely used it on the heatwave weekend of our stay! The hosts even provided us with a BBQ for the warm, summer evenings! We would love to stay here again - it was very relaxing.
