We had booked the one-bedroom apartment, but there was nobody in the two-bedroom apartment, so we were put in there. The apartment was very comfortable, tastefully furnished and well-equipped. We appreciated the washing machine (as we were in the middle of a 3-week trip) and the big drying rack and the clothes pegs. We seemed to be the only people staying in any of the apartments for the 3 nights we were there, so it was very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed having breakfast and coffee on the patio. We arrived by train - the apartment is approx 15 minutes walk from Arnstadt Süd, and 20-25 minutes from the centre of Arnstadt. There is a supermarket about 10 minutes walk away. The location is interesting. The property is on the edge of Arnstadt with grass and trees and butterflies and birds to one side towards the countryside. On the other side is a large estate of apartment blocks, a sports ground and a heating plant with a tall chimney. None of this was objectionable - we weren't disturbed by noise from the apartment blocks, there was no noise or pollution from the heating plant, and the chimney was quite smart :) Genuinely it made the outlook interesting, but perhaps not everyone's cup of tea.
