Set directly on the riverbank of the Danube, the family-run Gasthof Haselberger offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape. The restaurant serves home-made cuisine and local wine. We were made to feel very welcome upon arrival and we were able to store our bikes in the garage. We had a lovely room with a view over the Danube and a balcony. Beds were really comfortable and the shower was great. We were the only guests (as it was Sunday night) but we still had a full breakfast laid out for 2. We ate in the restaurant which was fine. The menu is very limited though. Overall, a lovely stay.

Located in Mautern on the southern bank of the Danube, only 1.2 mi from Krems, the Nikolaihof offers very spacious, classically equipped rooms with panoramic views over the Wachau Valley. A tranquil, beautifully maintained garden with a refreshing natural pool. A friendly and very helpful owner, who was able to recommend some cycling options as well as several places to eat. All the staff were very nice. Very clean and spacious accommodation - we got an upgrade and had a small chalet just for the two of us. Very good breakfast - fresh, tasty and very good choice. We hope to visit again.
