The three private onsen 24h, in particular the outdoor one, the living room where people eat and stay to watch outside or to meet others guests, the house is very cosy.

The hosts were extremely kind and helpful. They offer pickup from Hongu, making access to the property easy as well as drop off to the Onsen of your choice. The food was delicious. The room was simple but clean and spacious with beautiful views of the mountains, river and surrounding countryside. After a long day of hiking, it was amazing. Highly recommend.

A cool looking house in the traditional Japanese style with modern conveniences. It has a nice view of the impressive Torri that is unfortunately marred by the bug screens and telephone/electricity wires. Full kitchen, but we did not cook and just did take out from one of the only restaurants that stayed open past 6:00pm. There is a bus stop outside or it's an easy walk to the Hongu Taisha bus center next to the Tourist Office. We had the Western Bed option which was thick raised pads, much easier than sleeping on the floor after a long day.

The guest house was perfectly located in Yunomine Onsen, right across from the bus stop. The owners were unbelievably gracious and kind, and prepared the best (and most beautiful) meal we had during our Kumano Kodo hike. The private onsen was a blessing after a full day of hiking, and the room was clean and cozy. We couldn’t recommend this guest house more highly.

This is such a unique property that it begs a narrative and not just numerical ratings. First of all, the location is key because the hike from our previous location was so far. It was much more pleasant to break it up and arrive at Kumano Hongu Taisha early, have lunch, and arrive at Yumomine hot springs early before everyone else showed up. I'm not sure how everyone else is doing their mapping, but the trail goes north near this place before dropping south to Hongu Taisha. The place is located in a small village, and the property seems to have been a business next to the river. It's super quiet and the view of the river and mountain behind it is lovely. It's a super safe small town and the door is left open. The host is lovely, and speaks pretty good English. He stopped by in the evening to check in with us. The place is quiet and clean, has beautiful views, but sparsely decorated. My GF says "it needs a woman's touch" ;).
There's a grocery store nearby, though the meals provided by the host were outstanding. Breakfast and lunch gets delivered between 6 and 7 AM.

The hotspring in Totsukawa is one of the best I have evers been to in Japan. They boast of no additions to the water and not even heating the water. Everything was very natural and comfortable. The scenery is very beautiful. The nearby Tamakijinja Shrine is very beautiful.
