The location is perfect to see the Northern Lights. We saw it twice right from our cabin. The location was also very near the ski lifts and tobogganing slopes. We also appreciated the fully-equipped kitchen and clothes dryer that could warm your clothes on a very cold day! The heated glass roofs also ensured we always had a clear view of the sky. We walked down town (about 25 minutes slow walk) to get groceries to cook, though the uphill could be a challenge. The personal sauna was a bonus. We booked the taxi airport transfer through the property and the lady was great. She helped us with our luggage and opened the doors for us, which was very helpful since it was a self check-in property and it's not always easy figuring things out in the cold!

If you're going skiing, Saariselkä is a good option and you can stay there for a week, for example. If you are looking for the Northern Lights, maybe 3 nights would be ok, but you you should pray for good weather, with clear skies, and , of course, for the aurora to appear.

Saariselka has everything you need for a winter lapland trip! The ski resort is at walking distance, there are more than three DMC's to chose from when booking trips, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs. THe supermarket is big for a small town and offers all you need.
