One of the main attractions of the city is St. Stephan church with the colourful stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. The weekly market in front of the Cathedral features everything a traveller could wish, from flowers to fresh local products and clothes.

We were in Mainz for only two full days but saw and experienced a lot. The Altstadt is beautiful. We visited the Gutenberg Museum and enjoyed their mini-workshop a lot. As an artist, my favourite was the St Stephan's Cathedral, with the stained glass windows designed by Chagall. I did not know of its existence, and I loved it! The Roman Theatre at the Romische Teater train station was not that impressive, as we could only look at it through construction wire. It would have been nice to sit there and contemplate its history. Nevertheless, I am glad I saw it. We also visited the Volkspark on a public holiday, and it was interesting to see how ordinary German families enjoy a sunny day.

Mainz is a fantastic city.
Mainz is a fantastic city. It has all the flavors what I long for. The strong history heritage, z.b. Mainz dom; the best wein Jard region of the world, z.b Rhine Weingau; authentic German food; the active growing business environment; the city is not big but just big enough for everything. Mainz is the city , the longer you stay, the more you love and you will go away. Ich liebe Mainz.

The location is great if you have an early departure from the train station, but not so great if you want to go out to the old town in the evening.
What I liked was the convenience around my train trip snd the good quality of the hotel.

Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
sits where the Rhine and Main rivers meet. Some Roman ruins still remain.
There is plenty of good shopping, places of interest and some great restaurants, a couple of days in the city is probably enough.
The Rhine forms the border between Rhineland Palatinate and Hessen, so you may need different travel tickets if you leave Mainz itself.
To see further afield, either the rhineland or hessen day tickets give up to five people unlimited rail travel for a very reasonable cost (about £30) so you can explore a large area cheaply.
Nice room with a small balcony. The view of the old town is unforgettable. The beds are comfortable. The room is spacious and clean. The bathroom is tiny but OK - walk-in shower, toilet, and sink. There is no air conditioning, but you can use a fan to lower the temperature in the room. The breakfast is very tasty with good choices of a variety of food. Optionally, it is possible to park the car in the underground car park (for an additional fee). The hotel is ideally located just a stone's throw from the old town center and the cathedral.
We both loved this quaint little hotel tucked down a cute side street in a central part of Mainz. The hotel was small and characteristic of the area, full of charm. The room was big enough and the beds and pillows were good. No problems in sleeping.
The central location was a bonus - was walkable to so many things. We had the hotel's breakfast buffet one morning. Lots of yummy things to choose from and even wine on the offering if you so desired. Highly recommended.
The hotel is an attractive eighteenth century building in the heart of Mainz. Very convenient for most of the sites, especially the incredible Chagall windows in St Stephan's Church. Plenty of space for parking inside the complex, which the proprietor will help you to access. Our unit was spacious and well equipped, with a picturesque view of the garden with Christmas lights. Breakfast is not served, but is available from 0900 in a very good cafe just across the road.
We had one night stay at this place. The accomodation was good. The rooms and beds were fairly clean.
The place was on a small hill nearby to city with calm neighborhood.
Free Parking was available, wifi was good.
Unfortunately, they didnt give us breakfast citing COVID rules as reason, but we didnt had issues with breakfast during stay at other hotels.
Overall a good overnight stay for us while being enroute to Austria.
Really centrally located in the old town of Mainz. This cosy little apartment was bright and airy with lovely heating which we had to use as the weather turned quite cold. We are bike packers and the host allowed us to keep our bicycles secure inside the apartment with us. The apartment was located off the town square inside a courtyard so felt very private and quiet. We cooked our own meal using the well equiped kitchen.
This was an older yet clean and comfortable hotel. It was sparsely furnished with nice amenities. The location was just off the main walking street and convenient to get to the old town and restaurants. The room was quiet with a private door opening on to the balcony. There was always water available to drink in the lobby which we appreciated. The breakfast was of good quality and wide variety.
Very close to the old town for Christmas market and sightseeing. Our section of hotel had a side entrance that put us right on the street so we didn’t have to walk all the way back to lobby to leave hotel. This was very handy. Only a 5 minute walk to the Dom. Good restaurant and bar and right off of the river walk. I enjoyed walking there. Room ver comfortable and spacious.
A really nice two star stay in a very good location – value for money is definitely unbeatable!
Although we arrived later than anticipated, hotel management had gone out of their way to even arrange for a small space to park our car. It’s a half hour walk along the river Rhine from the city center and very easily accessible from the autobahn, so definitely a recommendation!
The location of the flat is great, close to the train station and on the edge of Altstadt.
The balcony is fantastic and offers a lovely seat with a view for a breakfast coffee or evening wine.
The room is a great size, and you'd be very lucky to find a hotel room this size for this price.
The apartment was super clean. The host was super friendly and helpful. The apartment is really close to the old town and public transport. There was a water cattle, tea, coffee machine with coffee and even some water in the fridge. Had a really good time in Mainz
Very quiet and well-kept guest house. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable.
The shared kitchen was well-equipped and convenient. I will stay here again when I return to Mainz.
A Modern and conveniently located hotel by the station and 15 min walk into town. Mainz is charming city and this hotel, (.along).with a great breakfast) was a perfect 1 night stay
Very good easy location for walking to old town and various sites. Bathroom was modern and bed was comfortable. This is more of a boarding house than a hotel. My room had a balcony.
Location: This hotel is located right next to the Mainz station.
Staff hospitality: the staff members were nice overall and helped me find what I need within the city.
Hilton Mainz is well located if you want to explore the town. Rooms are neat and clean with excellent water pressure in the shower and the breakfast is amazing.
