Historic border town with easy access to surrounding scenic areas and towns.
A good selection of independent shops and restaurants. Good views over the Wye valley and a small friendly theatre. Relatively unspoilt.

Rather disappointed.
Rather disappointed. Town looked tired and had seen better days. Difficult to walk along the river for all the bushes. Having said that, it did rain every day and nowhere looks good unless the sun shines

Lovely little town with fascinating architecture and some wonderful views over the River Wye and the valley. The locals were very welcoming. We went in to the church, and although a service was just about to start the vicar went out of his way to make us welcome.
The hotel is tastefully decorated with a lovely area to relax and have a drink. There is also a beautiful garden with a superb view of the river Wye, countryside, and the church in Ross on Wye.
The breakfast was high quality set in an exquisite dining room, and the hosts were very friendly, attentive, and nothing was too much trouble.
Good off the road parking at the rear of the property.
The innkeeper Andy and his wife Sophie were very kind and accommodating- they allowed my mum and her dog to join me on short notice for the second night of my stay, and were present on both arrival and departure to help with the tight parking situation - in the rain no less! Very kind people taking good care of their guests. Sophie's breakfasts were fab as were the nearby nature walks.
Orles Barn is an exceptional hotel. Roxy and Matt are the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. The food (Matt is the chef) is quite simply the best I've tasted in any hotel anywhere! You will be treated like royalty at the hands of Roxy, who is such a warm and genuine person. I LOVE staying here and cannot recommend Orles Barn highly enough.
Accommodation was fine, just what we were expecting. Would have liked to know about the road closure, all the signs were saying business open as usual, not knowing where the hotel was compared to the road closure, we had a very disgruntled local saying we shouldn't be at the closure. The detour was not good for a small sports car.
The accommodation was good considering the restrictions of the historic building and improvements were being made. Very close to town centre with parking just around the corner. There are a lot of steps to negotiate so someone who is physically impaired would find it difficult especially if having to carry luggage.
Located very near the town and river so very easy to get out and about. Lovely views from our bedroom and the terrace bar over the beautiful landscape. The hotel was clean, lovely decor, good shower and the staff were very polite, professional and friendly. We will definitely stay there again.
Had a lovely overnight stay here. The hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Ross On Wye and rooms are clean and the bed was very comfortable. Good choice of breakfast and the full English and veggie breakfasts were delicious. We would definitely stay here again.
Dark brown walls & ceilings, and tatty carpets & dull lighting to the communal areas take gloominess to a new level. However, that is unfair as this is a good place to stay. Staff delightful, breakfast and restaurant very good, and parking a real bonus.
The parking was great, immediately outside the property. Joy, the host was charming and very welcoming. We slept well. We had a really good meal at the Royal Hotel, just a short walk away, see 3 photos of views from outside terrace - can recommend!!
Breakfast was excellent felt sorry for the staff having to run up and down stairs serving food. Location was very good as the town 300 yards away just as it was uphill from hotel other than that position great also over looking the river.
Ideally situated in the centre of tourist area with easy access to Ross on Wye, symonds yat, Forest of Dean and Wales very peaceful location with parking. Breakfast was lovely we stayed in lodges at rear of main pub/hotel
The hotel is well located close to Ross on Wye and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was exceptionally good. The room rates at the hotel are very good value for money and we highly recommend staying here.
Riverside location is lovely and only a short 5min walk to the town centre. Room was very clean, quiet and nicely furnished. Breakfast was fantastic, plenty of options and high quality ingredients.
Beautifully appointed property, super clean and friendly helpful hosts. Situated within easy reach of town centre and in lovely grounds. Pub at top of road does excellent home cooked food.
Very welcoming hosts, beautifully decorated rooms. A lovely location overlooking the river. A delicious breakfast too with lots of lovely little touches throughout the hotel.
Excellent little hotel tucked away on the edge of Ross. Super comfy and well appointed rooms, beautiful garden area and a super breakfast.
Really friendly welcome.
