To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Location is very convenient. Close to main road, petrol station, and local restaurants. The room was spacious. Good value for money. If you enjoy walking, Pub street is at a walkable distance...

CambodiaHaving no fridge, no kettle, no Wi-Fi, no TV, no hot water, no kitchen facilities or restaurant. All this was according to Booking.com available at Jasmine Lodge. I only stayed one night and B.com owe me money as I booked another hotel through them which I paid again up front. Unfortunately, B.com are not interested even though they sent a request to the hotel which the hotel chose to ignore. After going to trust pilot to check on B.com I find that they have a very generous 1 out of 5 Stars, should be -1*

South AfricaThe staff is not very fluent in English, which makes communication difficult. Although you can pay in US dollar, they refuse to accept notes that have been used for a long time (teared, stained, wrinkled). The hotel was not able to offer a packed breakfast since we departed at 4h20 to Angkor Wat and could reimburse the breakfast fee.
Hotel is a 20 min walk from pub street.

CambodiaAir con did not work, no jug in the room, was not picked up as per included in booking via booking.com. Their own website is no longer valid, restaurant and bar have been closed for 2 years. Booking.com should contact hotel and get updated information on facilities and amenities available.
