Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe lodge needs urgent overhaul. Mosquito nets had holes. Stuff was loud, food mediocre. No fresh coffee for breakfast, just instance coffee.
Great common areas with stunning looks to Tsavo East and the occasional elephant coming by. Several pools.

SwedenThe food is no culinary experience but perfectly fine for a couple of days. Animals at the waterhole is no guarantee - take it as a bonus if elephants show up, apparently they do on most days depending on season and their mood.
I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Excellent location just outside the national park, great views. Clean rooms. Very relaxing. Staff are super friendly. The views from the rooms vary and only some have balcony so worth checking this when booking. I had an excellent view over the savannah and the water hole from my balcony. Saw some elephants from afar but no animals came to the waterhole during my stay. At times I had one of the swimming pools all to myself (besides the monkeys watching me). Some Kenyan families visiting which I thought was nice. I haven’t stayed at another lodge but from what I can tell, good value for money.

SwitzerlandIt was not the right season to watch the animals, such as elephants, etc at the waterhole. We hardly saw any animals. The game drive In booked did not fulfill our expectation, because we did not even spot Cheetahs, which has happened to me never before - probably December is not the right season.
What they call a Deluxe Room is shabby and dusty - they had to move us into a Superior Room otherwise I would have canceled it.

SwitzerlandConsidering the price point which is comparable or around the same as other lodges in the area, the facilities fell way below the expectation. The buildings were drab and grey, The fixtures despite that this hotel only opened in 2003 are already old and in a worse condition than its counterparts in the area who been there for a lot longer. The curtain rails were broken. Bathroom floor was stained. The finishings were poor. The curtains in our room were old and dirty. WIFI was only available in some common areas. It has great potential to be superb especially as the location is really beautiful but right now they need to upgrade their look and facilities big time. Either that or bring the price point down to match what they currently offer.
The breakfast was ok. The location of the lodge is perfect. Their animal viewing point and the view from the rooms of the watering hole is nice.

KenyaThere were phones in the rooms. If you needed help you had to walk to the reception (not great if it's the middle of the night) or you'd have to call the number online which was busy most times. No TV so bring your own entertainment.
The hotel has scenic views of wildlife both from the terrace and the rooms. There's a good variety of food served and appeals to different palates. The staff always have a smile on and ready to help.

KenyaWhen I called the hotel for direction the femal staff who picked the call was rude, and unclear. She was not professional. Lunch was delayed: We needed to leave right after lunch for other connections. They said that lunch would be served at 12pm sharp and even prevented us from sitting in the dining room area before 12pm, but they were slow in placing food in the buffet area for more than 20 minutes. It would be great if they kept the same dinning time that they impose on the visitors. Mosquito net was torn
I liked the fact that it's at the border of Tsavo East

SpainAbsolutely terrible, old and not refurbished, dirty, absurdly huge hotel. Although it is located at the waterhole, there are no animals coming to it (it seems that the animals avoid this hotel as humans should). Incredible number of flying insects, which would be considered just as a natural phenomenon if they had good mosquito nets without gaps.
Nice huge territory at the border of the national park. Nice helpful stuff.

PortugalLots of ants in the room, but that is to be expected when you're in a lodge. Also, some guests were very loud and fighting when the elephants were near. The breakfast was OK. Nothing too special. Some fruits, some egg, etc... Didn't think much of it.
Amazing view. Elephants that are almost within hand reach. Very magical experience to be there. They have some beautiful gardens around and the staff is friendly.
