Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaOur room was a little dirty, like stains on the wall and some on the sheets, but did not really bother us too much. Very tiny room so be prepared for that if you have bigger luggage!
The location is great, it is in the heart of Shinjuku. The breakfast was also very good, not really a western breakfast, but still good!

Very central location within Shinjuku. Close to Shinjuku station. Friendly staff and the onsen was a bonus.

United KingdomOnsen is tiny but as it was a nice extra that didn't bother us too much. Rooms are small which isn't great if you have a lot of luggage. You can hear other people unlocking their doors at night as the touch pads have a loud beep. Sometimes a long wait for the lift. No bath in our room.
Good location in Shinjuku, right at the heart of everything. Liked the code locks on the door which avoid the potential of losing keys. The onsen allows guests with tattoos, but Japanese guests *will* stare at you, haha. The free drinks and breakfast are a nice extra. Rooms are small but perfectly adequate. Staff are lovely and accommodating!

United KingdomThe breakfast room was too small and difficult to move around.
The breakfast room was small and space too tight. The food on offer was varied and of good quality and freshness. The evening free cocktail was a bonus and welcome. The location of the hotel was in a quite area, but equally close to the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The facility was clean.

CanadaWith the construction going on, the lobby was very tiny. They allowed people to leave their bags until the rooms were ready at 3pm. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t hand out the keys before 3pm if the room is ready. No welcome drink noted and there was nowhere to go with your breakfast. Mattresses and pillows are very hard. Room was tiny and could barely open the suitcase fully on the floor as very little floor space.
Location is excellent and right in the heart of Shinjuku.

United States of AmericaThe rooms were small and felt claustrophobic. Not really a room to hang out in, mostly just to sleep. For the price that is being paid though it was not a big detriment, but with luggage it felt pretty tight at times.
The breakfast was good. It had a good mix of western style foods and some more Japanese style foods. This being kabukicho had access to various attractions and places I had wanted to visit. Staff were helpful and let me store baggage until check-in.

BrazilThe location, although it's super near the center of Kabukicho it's a 10 to 15 minute walk from the nearest train station (either JR Shinjuku or JR Shin Okubo), if you are walking with big luggages (like I did) just have this in mind. The room was small, we almost got only the space for the bed and that's it. But it's the standard for Japanese hotels in Tokyo. Also, there was only one elevator, it's tall building so sometimes we had to wait a bit to be able to ascend or descend.
The Hotel has a public bath with carbonated water, which was super nice. It was a bit small than I expected, at night it got crowded, but still was nice to have the option to soak after a long day of walking. The breakfast buffet was amazing, many options and food was great. Considering near Kabukicho there are not many options to eat in the morning having a good breakfast was a saver. The staff was amazing, the receptionist and the team who manager the breakfast were super polite and attentive.

United KingdomSlightly more vegetarian options at breakfast would have been good.
This hotel is in the centre of Shinjuku, it's reasonably priced, the breakfast is lovely, and the public bath admits people with tattoos which most don't in Japan. The staff are friendly and helpful.

ChileThe default pillows are really bad (but you can choose a different one from lobby). Also there is just one elevator so that could be an issue if busy.
Fantastic breakfast, reasonably sized rooms, great amenities, easy Check in and check out, cheap and quick washing and drying machines. Great to have public bath too.

AustraliaYou had to grab pillows from reception and some aren't very comfy so best to check in early so you have more options.
