Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThink we may of liked to have the option of having a later breakfast would have been nice. Being woken up at 8am on holiday is a little early for us!! 8am until 10am would be great
The old court was in a great location, pretty street. Staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful.

GermanyFor Indian standards, value for money is so, so. Breakfast is heavily overpriced; the third day (after having extended our stay) we started to eat our own food, which was accepted. Be sure NOT to get the upper rooms in the side wing; they are tiny, horribly hot (because of the ribbed roof), and the A/C is blowing directly into your sleeping face. First floor room was fine.
Excellent location on Tourist Lane in Old town Fort Kochi. Friendly and helpful staff, although their English is limited, but Meena makes a great conversation partner. Refreshing pool in the court. Impressive colonial merchant's shop and warehouse architecture.

The location was good and the room was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel organised a good boat tour.

Great location. Beautiful property with lovely authentic period furnishings. The garden/courtyard is a charming tranquil spot with the added bonus of the small plunge pool. The staff are super helpful - I was not well during my 2 night stay (nothing to do with the hotel) and the staff could not have been more kind and attentive. Thank you.

AustraliaBreakfast wasn't included in the room rate/price
Lovely old building with character and atmosphere and really friendly staff who were cheery and helpful like Beno. Sigimol prepared me delicious breakfasts in the mornings that were good value for money- fresh fruits, fresh watermelon or pineapple juice, omelette, toast, jam and honey, and coffee foe 300 INR. I made use of the pool in the afternoons which was nice. Great location too. I highly recommend this hotel.

SwitzerlandDuring our stay, sadly the pool was in an abysmal state, although the staff tried over the time of our stay to get it cleaned, it remained green and murky.
Great location right in the middle of middle of Fort Kochi, lovely heritage building with room decoration and furniture according to it. Staff is friendly and d as we arrived very late at night, it was not an issue getting in our room straight after arriving. There are a few good places to eat in easy walking distance

NetherlandsAlthough old and characterful there were technical issues with the power going out about 4 times, and no water hot or cold for more than 10 hours. The building has old plank flooring so you hear your neighbours talking and walking everywhere. The open courtyard allows loud voices to travel everywhere. I could here the staff talking loudly at the front desk. Smoking is allowed in the courtyard and poolside. After traveling all day I arrived late and was told I could not eat there nor could I the next morning as they needed to plan for it. No elevator. Gaudy plastic Christmas decorations. Electrical plugs need an upgrade. No free bottled water.
Probably the cleanest hotel I stayed at in India. Friendly staff. Great location. Good wifi. Good air conditioning in room. Mosquito netting. Very characterful.

IndiaThe lighting in the room wasn't the most effective. Given the tall ceilings on the top floor, I think better lighting would benefit both visibility and ambience. Just 2 well placed floor lamps in the room could help drastically.
Situated in the heart of Fort Kochi, walking into the hotel is full of old world charm with modern amenities. I love the fact they have water refill stations on every floor. The small plunge pool was lovely to take a dip in after a walk around town. Close to lovely restaurants, cafes and stores, I look forward to coming back and staying here again!

IndiaThe Old Courtyard is absolutely gorgeous and surreal, and felt like a heritage home rather than a hotel. That being said it had all the usual amenities of a hotel - great linen, furniture, turn down service etc. I ate my meals outside but this was not a problem as the hotel is surrounded by lovely cafes and restaurants. I wanted a very relaxing vacation that felt like a break from the day to day, and thats exactly what I got here, with Mr Wilson and the rest of the staff always available for any help I needed.
