Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandCleanliness of property. Attention to detail required with the cleanliness of the property. The floors on arrival looked clean but were sticky to walk on. The communal areas (sitting room, dining area, bathrooms) were clean and dust free, however there was a lot of dust lying on and in furniture, wardrobes, drawers in bedrooms. The kitchen needs to be updated. One ring on hob did not work. The outside of the kitchen presses as well as handles on presses were greasy to the touch. The oven trays were not washed. Cleaning utensils under the sink were not fit for purpose. One teatowel for a five day stay. Dishwasher provided but no dishwasher tablets. No provision of cleaning products. On arrival the TV did not work, sash windows could not be opened. Heat of the day drew ants into the house via the patio back doors. Only one bin for all rubbish - consideration needs to be given to the provision of separate bins... general waste, recycling waste and compost waste. A couple of bedroom windows require attention relating to handles.
Convenient location for the purpose of our stay. Easy access to Limerick city. Nice pubs and eateries near by. Lots of space in the house. Host was very helpful and resolved complaints that we had. Lots of hot water and central heating, when needed.

United Kingdomthe hot water system/pump was extremely noisy. We found the mattress far too soft and some of the furniture looked a bit tired.
we found the property to be very spacious - the bedrooms in particular were very large. the facilities were good - we used the dishwasher and washing machine, both of which appeared to be nearly new. the bedroom carpets also appeared to be relatively new. the village of Bunratty is lovely an quiet with not too much traffic which gives it a relaxed feel. the location of the property was very convenient for us with several nice restaurants within a few minutes walk. it was also quick and easy to get back to the main N18. communication with the host was very good. i messaged with a query prior to our arrival and received a response within 10 minutes. on arrival the host was friendly and professional.

We tried to call them for 1 hour!!!! We were very anxcious. Then 1 hour lated call me back and said the cottege number. It had been opened. Nobody presented the cottege and the surounding. We had no problem, but I am sure nobody helped us in this case.

IrelandI stayed with my family, where one of my young family members has a fear of spiders. This is where the rooms had lost of spiders and webs in them. I really feel that this could have been prevented, if it were to be properly dusted and cleaned of same, prior to attendance.
I liked the peaceful location of the property. I also liked the convenience of having access to all accessories which was just like home, so much so that l would definitely consider staying in this type of property again.

United KingdomThe property is in an area near some derelict buildings which means it feels a little uncomfortable. Though it was quite clean, there the facilities are tired and need some maintenance (the boiler makes very loud noises whenever it is on, one of the showers is leaking through the ceiling, the fridge door sticks and it difficult to open etc). Overall, while the location is good, more than 500 euros for two nights isn’t good value for money given the condition of the property.
Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is great. The property is also walking distance from some nice pubs and cafes as well as Bunratty Castle. The member of staff who welcomed us was very friendly and had recently cleaned the property well.

United KingdomMould and a very strong damp smell throughout the downstairs rooms. Dirty/sticky surfaces and stained carpets. Unusable cleaning products (used old sponges and 1 singular wet dishwasher tablet!). No hairdryer (stated there was). Ensuite shower rooms filthy. Full of spiders and webs. Very poor fire safety standards: downstairs bedroom windows wouldn't open due to multiple layers of old paint, fire extinguisher and blanket last serviced 5 years ago. No smoke alarm. On contacting the 'site manager', she was extremely rude and shouted down the phone at me. All reported to the management company.
Stayed in House 21 (and House 19 for 1 week each consequently). Very unsatisfied stay (see reasons below)- contacted Booking.com (who were wonderful) and the management company for these holiday houses (who, to be fair, listened to my grievances, apologised and have offered me a 30% refund). Bunratty itself is brilliant - great pubs and restaurants, good links to Ennis and Limerick.

United KingdomThere was nothing really to dislike - however, I think it would be helpful for future guests to have instructions for the heating, washing machine etc left in the property. It was also strange not to have any tourist information or emergency contact numbers in the property
lovely location, easy walk to the village and all its ammenities - there was a small garden space if you want to sit outside, it is not private, but more than adequate - the kitchen is fully equipped - the agents were extremely helpful when we encountered a couple of problems, that were our fault
