Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

IndonesiaNothing to highlight, maybe the location. there are not too many things around. But itñs easy to book a motorbike or car so no big deal.
The staff, very thoughtfull and helpful. They allowed us to leave our luggage with them last day while we went for a tour.

AustraliaThe noise was an issue. The neighbors would love to sing and make lots of noise however this was only in one room. I moved rooms and this problem did not happen.
What l liked about the property was the caretaker he was lovely and the shower. The Indomart was a two minute walk and there was a few warongs in the area. Most of the time l was the only guest in the building. Ollie the owners dog was there for a couple of days and he was so cute (see photo). The upstairs bedrooms were very large however l had to stay downstairs due to my partner being in a wheelchair. When booking l would get the upstairs rooms. The balcony upstairs was great for a quiet beer. There is a great Tattoo shop two doors down. There was no other western tourists around in this area so be prepared to learn some of the language or use Google translate.

SwitzerlandI contacted the customer care asking for a cancellation and refund and even days later I haven’t received an answer. I left as soon as I arrived pretty much, had to rebook a different accommodation.
I picked the place as cleaning was highly rated. On my arrival I’ve seen the opposite.

United Arab EmiratesIt could have been a great room. It didn't have any windows though only an opening in the ceiling right on top of what sounded like compressors engines on all night! Very noisy 😑 avoid the romm #7!!
