Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaTerrible sewer smell in the bathroom. Lack of basics like a coffee maker or water boiler. Very expensive for what it offered.

United States of AmericaWho in the world thought the step stairs in our bedroom was a good idea? I hurt my knee prior to the trip, so I never actually got to use the bed. We slept on the pullout couch. I was offered another room but we loved our view. The staff put an additional mattress on the pullout, so I was comfortable, but if regular stairs were in the design, I would have been able to navigate. Design flaw, not a point against staff. Just a note of caution if you have any mobility issues. It looked pretty though lol. Also I bought a bath mat cos shower was slippy without. Wish bar was open a little later as they have such a great view they could exploit for those guests coming back from dinner elsewhere. Breakfast was a pass. Very disappointing but dinner was great.
Staff were amazing and accommodating. The room was kept extremely clean, and the balcony in our room had an amazing view. The masseuse, Christina, was fantastic. Overall, with the exception of the bedroom design, we were very happy. Pool area pretty, too.

PortugalOur room with a view turned out to be a room on the side of the hotel with only the balcony with a view. The hotel did give us a different room, but it had no working air conditioning and a balcony so small you couldn't sit on it. It took 2 days of complaining before we were moved us to an acceptable room. The manager did give us a discount for our discomfort, but it didn't help that for 2 days we had to sleep with the windows open in a stuffy room and were covered in mosquito bites! We found the breakfast ample but not healthy or local, what you would find in a cheap hotel in Europe. Where is the modern awareness of fresh food, fresh juices, local honeys, tisanes from the hundreds of local herbs? Considering it is the best hotel in the area it could be so much better!
The view was nice. The staff pleasant. The location was good.

SlovakiaRestaurant was closed for guests, restaurant staff was little abrupt. Aleksandra from reception was amazing host and very helpful as we had to amend our arrival - Thank you so much! Else fairly pleasant stay, although the mattresses could be replaced as they passed their time. Also the rooms could have at least kettle especially if you stay longer there’s no other amenities available.
Location and big terrace outside the room.

ItalyThe breakfast needs to be definitely improved. There is no becon, there is no toast just fresh bread, the brioches have medium quality as well as the mixed cold cuts. You have to pay for espresso...
In room 26 the air conditioner makes the same noise as a helicopter but the balcony is nice, it has a nice view of the sea.

CroatiaThe pool (wellnes) was closed the whole time. The breakfast is like in a 2 star hotel. You have to come early to get normal bread and croissants. At 9 there is only the cheapeast bread available. And the staff dont care about this. The AC can be controlled only from the reception. The TV in the room was probably bought in the 90s, there are 5 channels in total with poor quality. Inwatchable. All in all, this is NOT a 4 star hotel. We dont know how rhis Hotel could receive 4 stars.
The rooms were spacious and clean.

AustriaThis hotel is situated in an idyllic location - and is ideal for a beach holiday, but also as a base to discover the islands of Cres and Lošinj. It is very quiet and comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We've returned here again and again and again.

We arrived at hotel Zlatni Lav at Martinšćica on the island of Cres to a welcoming reception. The hotel is lovely and located just a short walk away from the beach ⛱. The receptionist, Ajka was lovely and helpful 😊 and our room was great. 👍🏻

United KingdomThis establishment is a shambles and I had the worst experience in all my many years of travel at the hands of the most obnoxious, rude, discourteous man I have ever had the misfortune to cross paths with, a sentiment offered independently to me by another guest there. And this man was just the receptionist whose opening gambit when I politely asked if he spoke English, was to snarl back at me "of course I speak English". Be under no illusion, there are NO facilities whatsoever at this "hotel"; no bars, no restaurants, no snack bars, no terraces; you cannot even get a cup of coffee and if you ask, you will be told to go into town for one. The building next door USED to be the restaurant but the receptionist abruptly told me when I enquired about an evening meal that it is closed, the chef had CoVID and if I wanted to eat I would have to walk down into the town. So, a single woman in her 60s, being told to walk into an unknown town (on her own) if she wanted to eat - how this man thinks that is acceptable is beyond me. Having seen the 'restaurant' in the morning at breakfast, it is obvious this building has not been used as a functioning restaurant for many many months if not years (a review in 2021 refers to there being no restaurant then) so draw your own conclusions. As for the breakfast, it isn't even worthy of comment (black bugs on lemon slices)! This company's own website (http://www.hotel-zlatni-lav.com/?lang=en) bears no resemblance to the property you see today and the information on booking.com is neither accurate or up-to-date. "Free WiFi access is provided in public areas", however there are no public areas other than the reception. There are no tea or coffee making facilities, not even a kettle in the room. There is a mini-bar, whoop-de-do. In my room there was no soap in the sink dispencer and the plug was broken.
Nothing.
