The perfume smell in the reception area is overwhelmingly pungent and not at all welcoming. The reception area was nice but we couldn't spend any substantial time there because of the smell. I'm sure there are customers with perfume allergies that this would be totally prohibitive for (luckily no smell in the rooms!)

The room is a perfect size, the interior makes the feeling of a luxury. It is kept clean and tidy. The bed is very comfortable. Its location ensures silent athmosphere.

Room was noisy she. We were promised a quiet room. The rooftop bar pool area was above us so early music staff moving stuff 🤷‍♀️

Location! location! Location! Staff were brilliant. Wonderful people. Our room was noisy with rooftop nearby on the top floor. Would have preferred a city view for the noise 😃 Would definitely recommend & visit again

The inside facing room was quite dark even with the lights on. One day the spa was out of use due to work being done.

I have stayed at Hotel 1898 before and it was so good I decided to return. It now has a roof terrace with pool and a spa, which are a bonus. You are allowed 30 minutes per day in the spa. The service from staff was impeccable. The beds were comfy. Location is great as you can walk from Plaça Catalunya if getting the airport bus. On my last evening I returned to my room to find a bottle of cava as a gift. Great stay.

Absolutely amazing location. Staff were VERY helpful and I really enjoyed my stay. The spa was incredible and so was the rooftop bar! Got upgraded to a nice room which was very kind of the lady at reception. Will definitely be staying there again.

Our room was pretty, but small and very dark. The bathroom was not designed for more than 1 person and the lighting was bad. We also did not care for the overpowering air freshener smell when you walked into the hotel.

The hotel had a nice location. We walked to it from the bus station on the plaza. It was very convenient to La Boqueria market and the Barcelona cathedral. The hotel had an old world charm. Staff was helpful.

The room had a large internal window facing windows of other rooms and glass corridors, which means very little privacy unless all curtains were shut. While very clean, the shower had various issues with the water: 1.The water pressure in the fixed shower head was extremely low (the handheld shower head had excellent pressure) 2. The water pressure in the sink was very low. 3. The shower had a cumbersome water taps system which made getting the right temperature really hard. 4. The sink was a clogged (although this was fixed really fast, thanks to the super helpful staff)

The common areas were very spacious and luxurious. The staff was extremely nice and helpful, and solved all solvable issues we had with an excellent solutions in very short time.

Great location just off La Rambla. Not at all noisy—we even slept with our windows open. We heard the occasional shout or laughter—definitely heard the church bell. All expected and welcome. It’s Spain!! Only issue was a slippery tub bottom. But the staff hooked us up with a mat and we were good to go.

Noisy on a night due to the underground tube way as trains pass. Shower over bath was very poor, no pressure and what water came out ended up on the end of the bath. Hard to understand why it’s not been fixed

The bath tub was slippery and the controls difficult to manage.

It is a gorgeous facility with a great staff, exceptional breakfast, good location, and we hope our 3 night stay is not our last.

1-2 of the front desk staff were a little curt in their responses to my friend and I. Would have appreciated a nicer demeanor and tone from them.

Wonderful location! Hotel was beautiful....colors, furnishings and the signature smell when you walk in is lovely. Hector (bartender) went out of his way to help us get drinks one night. Very pleasant. We did not eat breakfast there, but the snacks we ordered from the bar were great. Great sangria as well. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again!
