Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MaltaThe hosts and receptionists were very rude throughout. On booking.com I saw the penthouse had 4 beds. Upon arrival, I found there was only 3 and when I asked for an extra bed they did not have any. Instead of compensating me for the misinformation, and one guest having to go to a hotel, they changed the information on booking.com and claimed I read it wrong. Lucky enough for me, I saw it coming and took a screenshot before they changed. This made them look very foolish. Against their will, I was compensated by airbnb. I saw other guests having problems with the reception when I first arrived. We weren't the only group with a major issue. The towels were dirty, only one elevator worked and the cleaning lady only came on the first day. The apartment is far from most places you would like to visit in Barcelona; the beach, puerto Olympico, La Rambla, Barcelonette etc. Please do yourself a favour and pick ANYWHERE else. This is terrible value for money.
The only good thing is that there was a near by train station. That just helped with being very far from absolutely everything.

ThailandThe overall experience that we had at this apartment would give 1/5 stars. They do not have the best service, giving 0 out of 10 for this part. We stayed at the penthouse for 8 nights and we paid over €11,000. If you going to have a long stay in pay this much would definitely recommend somewhere else. For the check-in the staff does not have a welcome face, in fact they gave us a weird eye contact. Took over half an hour to check-in because they couldn’t find our booking. After we paid for a deposit of €600! and the whole eight nights this is what they tell us “You need to take out the trash every day” …. and this is the kind of service we get. The room itself was nice and big and has a nice view BUT was dusty and the pool wasn’t clean some of the lights were missing. The penthouse is on the 10th floor which we could only use the left elevator. Sometime when the right elevator is on the first floor the left elevator will not come down, we had to wait or press the elevator a multiple of times for it to come down. In the master bedroom downstairs, we could smell cigarettes from the room underneath us. They also have a picture hanging in the room. We accidentally drop it and the glass broke everywhere. We knew that we would have to pay for the broken picture. On the check-out day, they charge us €600!! Which is way overpriced. They said they called owner and the owner said "the picture is one of a kind and very expensive". They said they have to charge the whole deposit. Which we disagree, we said we would like proof of the price for the picture. They say they cannot give us proof, the owner said it’s a very expensive piece of art and it’s hard to find. Which made me think if it’s so expensive why was it so easy to be fallen down!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
