Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaAccess to this apartment involves 80 steps on a narrow staircase. To me, in view of the other advantages, this isn’t a deal-breaker. I certainly wish there were an elevator, just as I would have liked a larger balcony, but overall I’m happy to have chosen this place. If, however, anyone in your party has mobility issues, not only are you looking at the wrong apartment, but you may be looking at the wrong city. The Roman artifacts of Tarragona are magnificent, but fully appreciating them requires a lot of walking.
The apartment is in excellent shape. All furniture and appliances are up-to-date and well maintained. The kitchen is well-stocked. The owners are friendly and responsive. Tarragona is a great city to visit, full of life and history and without the prices, the hordes of tourists and the constant personal security issues of Barcelona. And this apartment has the best possible location. It’s roughly equidistant from all the major sites of the Old Town. Restaurants and bars abound, but if you wish to prepare food yourself, the apartment overlooks a busy square, which houses the huge Public Market. Butchers, fishmongers, bakers, fromageries, greengrocers: whatever you need is there, and downstairs from it is a large, well-stocked conventional supermarket. And it's one block to the main commercial street, the attractive Rambla Nova.

United KingdomAnyone choosing this apartment would need to be aware of two things: it is on the top floor of four and there is no lift, no arrangements are available for leaving luggage at the end of the stay, but there is a locker room 'Lockers Tarragona', a couple of minutes away, where you can pay to leave your cases should you need to. The XL locker will take a decent sized suitcase + one hand luggage sized case. Tarragona Radio Taxis will pick up from that location. If these issues do not affect your stay then there is no reason not to choose this apartment.
The apartment was well equipped although we would have preferred a few more mugs in addition to the cups. The apartment was located on Placa Corsini right opposite the market, with great choices for breakfast and evening drinks. Despite its location it was quiet and we weren't disturbed, even on market days. The hosts provided a great deal of information prior to arrival which was very helpful. The railway station is a ten minute walk.

United KingdomThe 4 flights of stairs were a little daunting when we arrived, but by the end of the week we were all finding them a lot easier to manage.
The apartment was in the perfect location to allow us to explore Tarragona. Situated in a beautiful square overlooking the central indoor Market, there were also a couple of outdoor markets there during our stay. Despite being so central the apartment was very quiet - when we closed the windows we couldn't hear anything from outside. We loved watching the clock on the market come to life at noon and 6pm when we were around! The apartment was very well equipped with crockery/pans/glasses/utensils and was spotlessly clean. We visited 2 of the restaurants recommended by the hosts and both were excellent. Bar Coimbra, just around the corner from the apartment, did very authentic tapas dishes at reasonable prices and the staff were very friendly.....we ate there twice! We lso went to AQ restaurant which did very unusual modern Spanish cuisine which was absolutely outstanding, and definitely worth a visit. it was a little more expensive at around £30 each (including wine) but if you like good food you'll love it. We did a tour of the city's Roman remains which lasted about 2.5 hours and it was great to understand a little more about the background of the city. We had seen the remains everywhere but didn't really know what the signified. We toured the Cathedral too which is well worth a visit. the local beach is pretty basic without any brollies or sunbeds. The furthest we ventured was Arrabassada Beach which is a blue flag beach and has a couple of beach bars as well as some sunbeds and shades. You can catch a bus there from Rambla vella outside the casino, or a taxi is pretty cheap - we got one the first time so that we could work out the lay of the land. There is so much to do in Tarragona that although we'd expected to travel to other places we found that we were happy to stay in situ. We really can't wait to go back again.
