Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe upstairs mattress on the bed was a bit hard for us. Everything else good.

United States of AmericaThe home has no air conditioning or ceiling fans or even screens on most windows. There are two bedrooms and we were looking forward to having our own space - for anyone with teens, just too much togetherness after being crammed in a single room/car/and bus seats for weeks is not good. Teens need their parental break of they get cranky! Unfortunately the upstairs bedroom was totally unusable due to heat and there was no screen on the door so 100's of mosquitos came in and bit us the first couple nights. We closed every window without screens after that and hunted the mosquitos and instead suffered sweltering heat. My daughter was covered in bites and was really sad as she is allergic. It was dangerously hot, like being in a stone oven. We both slept downstairs without sheets and there was just one outlet in the bathroom we could use for a fan. The beds are very firm- more like futons really so after long hours kayaking and swimming, and hiking about, if one sleeps on a hard bed, you wake up with kinks. At about noon we just had to leave the house because it was so hot and we had to stay out until sundown. The fridge has an alarm going off constantly and I had to get up every night and turn it off a couple times. I think the sound could somehow be disabled as I had to do this on a fridge I had once but Xevi said he planned to replace it. I recommend installing a whole house fan as it was almost always cooler outside and this would be an economic solution with a ceilng fan in the bedroom. I honestly think with temps in the high 80's and 90's F, and the naturally high humidity could cause someone could pass out in the house and die of heat stroke. Xevi said they used to live there for years so he knows how hot the home gets. I saw over 1500 people died in Iberia this week of heat, thus it was a worry.
I liked Xevi very much and he is the kind of good guy you want to get to know better. His family has quite the history there in the fishing village. He was gracious and friendly and full of information. His home is in an amazing location that exceeded our expectations and it was so charming, and we liked the upstairs balcony and we were grateful to be able to was a few articles of clothing. The kitchen was well outfitted and the neighborhood is perfect with lots to do right out the front door. There is a nice restaurant at Hotel Aquablava and wonderful lagoons even though it is the high season, we still had an easy time finding a place to slip onto the beach. It would have been perfect in May and June or maybe September or October. We would love to come again but not be here at the height of summer. There are lots of cute towns around...we went to the historic Pals and walked around Begur, both of which are like 10 min. away. There are lots of good grocery stores around too. My daughter was grateful for the wifi so Thank you Xevi for that...it makes it easier to sell her on a grand, distance medi holiday in Espania when she can stay in touch with her friends and family back home.
