it would be nice to have cushions on the beach chairs, but I understand that might not be possible.

The style of the property and the rooms were designed very well. We were very comfortable during our stay. Having the pool and the beach nearby was very convenient. It was also nice to be outside of the more bustling Puerto Viejo town. We saw and heard the monkeys from our room/ the pool. Breakfast was very good!

Breakfast at 8 was a little late for us and the portions could definitely be bigger. The location is a bit far from everything but we had a car so we didn’t mind but it’s good to know before.

The bungalows are spacious and very comfortable, we loved that they had a fridge and kitchen to prepare some food as well as complimentary coffee. The access to cold water for guests is also wonderful.

Great location mere steps from a superb beach …. lots of wildlife (monkeys, toucans and even macaws from the local sanctuary) … plus Sebastian and the staff pay incredible attention to detail in every aspect. We’d return to the area and Kanik Apart Hotel in a heartbeat. 🩵

Arriving in Puerto Viejo after a long journey from San Jose, we were greeted by the warm hospitality of Sebastian, which immediately lifted our spirits despite the darkness of the hour. Despite our exhaustion, Sebastian made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. The check-in process was swift and efficient, with Sebastian taking the time to provide us with all the necessary details about the apartment and the surrounding area. Not content with just ensuring a smooth check-in, Sebastian went above and beyond to assist us with our suitcases, easing our travel fatigue. And as if that wasn't enough, he surprised us with two glasses of delicious red wine, truly the perfect finishing touch to our long journey. The following morning, we were treated to a fabulous breakfast served on the terrace, which quickly became the most delightful part of our day. Sebastian's thoughtful recommendations, such as kayaking on Playa Punta Uva, added an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay. All in all, our time at Sebastian's place was nothing short of exceptional. It's without a doubt our most memorable stay in Costa Rica, and we deeply regret not being able to extend our visit.

It would be easier if you have a car, but a combo of walking, buses, and bike riding worked for me.

The location is stunning. In the woods and a 5 mins walk to a beautiful beach. The cabin was very tastefully designed and felt luxurious. It is self catering and had thoughtful things like oil, vinegar, salt and pepper and paper towel. Loved the individual terraces and the fabulous breakfast. Sebastian and all the staff very friendly and welcoming.

Sebastian was a wonderful, welcoming host. Breakfast was delicious. The property is gorgeous - the pool is so relaxing, and we loved sitting there every day watching the wildlife. We saw a pair of green macaws in the tree right above us on our last day! We wish we could've stayed longer at this unique hotel - rooms had everything we needed, loved the style, the bed felt like sleeping on the cloud. We LOVED hearing the rain at night (if you come to the rainforest, expect that it may rain especially at night!). The hotel was super close to places like the Ara sanctuary and the Jaguar Rescue Center (a must-see!), and lots of lovely beaches, especially Playa Manzanillo which we loved so much.

I loved the care and attention provided by the owner, he is so genuine and obviously loves the serene and magical escape he has created. It is a place which surrounds a person in comfort and balance and is hard to leave behind. He has created a very harmonious experience for his guests from serving breakfast on your private patio to providing a private soaker tub outdoors complete with a green wall and candles. I just loved it!

I really recommend this place!! It’s one of the best places we’ve stayed at in Costa Rica. The atmosphere is really good and the room was very comfortable and clean (and they cleaned it everyday). The breakfast was also very good and brought to you to your private terrace. Also, there’s a beach on 3 minutes walking distance. It’s nice and has sun beds from the accommodation (free of use). Not touristic at all, it sometimes felt like our own private beach. The owner Sebastian is very kind and makes sure everything is according to your needs. It’s obvious that he puts a lot of love and hard work in this place. We were sad to leave this lovely accommodation.

The beach which is walkable from the property was not good for swimming..

This is a new place and a lot of attention has been given to detail. The room was very tastefully decorated and well equipped and the grounds- though small, were beautifully landscaped.

New small complex, located in the forest about 400m from the main road. Charming and tastefully furnished bungalows with lots of natural materials, AC very good, internet working, functional and clean, sleep quality good to very good. Breakfast is served individually in the outdoor seating area of ​​each bungalow. In that context no contact and talk to other mainly young guests possible. Quality and variety of breakfast just about acceptable. Sometimes painfully slow and with my jet lag, just arrived from Europe, served later than promised. You wonder in a country which exports so much pineapple worldwide there is no such home made jam available. Stayed there end of Nov 2023. Sometimes it rained heavily with a lot of noise on the roof. We heard animals, but hardly saw them. A lot of construction activity being around. About 400m walk away you reach the natural beach where you can swim. However, hardly coming up any Caribbean feeling. Two national parks nearby that you can and should visit, i.e. Manzanillo and especially Cahuita.

Small things such as the steps from the cabins being fitted "the wrong way round" so they don't lead directly onto the seating area. Shoes necessary due to gravel paths.

Cabins are really well fitted out Semi-private outside seating Pool The setting in the midst of the forest is superb, access to a spectacular beach 5 mins walk away. In fact we walked along to Manzanillo several times just for the sheer pleasure of it Nice shower in the cabin Bikes to hire And Sebastian, the onsite manager, is a gem - nothing too much trouble and he even produced bubbly and macarons for valentine's night!

Decent restaurants are quite a walk away and that bit of road is very dark if you are on bikes or foot - it is fine but just a heads up. It would be wonderful if you could buy a beer / wine on site to add to the relaxation experience! ...and also a washing line you could put up where the hammock goes would be useful for people who have been travelling for a long time.

Superb location, in a quiet area surrounded by forest, with quick access to the beach. From the first day we managed to see capuchin monkeys, toucans and parrots from the terrace. Breakfast was excellent,great service and impeccable cleanliness. The host,Sebastian, helped us with everything we needed. We recommend with full confidence.

This place is beautifully designed and located in the midst of tall rainforest trees only a hundred meters from the beach. The bungalows are very pleasant and clean, the breakfast is delicious, and the staff, especially Sebastian, are super friendly and helpful. Here you can sit on the veranda and listen to the sounds of the rainforest at night and be woken up by howler monkeys.

The area the hotel is in was very quiet and lonely. The owner Sebastian was very friendly. The rooms were very tidy and lovely decorated. The breakfast was really delicious and was served at our veranda every morning. The flowers/trees are huge and healthy and very pretty. There are some sunbeds in the hotel‘s area on the beach (a 3 minute walk through a jungle-path away) - the beach was awesome and only a few people were there.

There are so many good things about this peaceful place. Perfect location in the rain forest, short walk to a beautiful Caribbean beach where you can see sloths, monkeys and green macaws. Breakfast was delicious and filling served at our private terrace. The staff will make sure your stay is an amazing one! They are welcoming, friendly and give great recommendations. The rooms have everything for a comfortable stay with high quality bedding. We are already looking forward to our next time here!
