To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Spain- you have to hand in your keys each time you leave the hotel. So you walk around without keys and you just name the room number when you enter without showing ID. - the entry door is locked. it’s possible you stay a few minutes in front of the door on the street which might be dangerous. - aircon is weak

United States of AmericaThe only drawback was the room location. The window was facing the busy pedestrian walkway/Avenue. Since there was no air-conditioning, the window had to remain open. Music from the restaurant on the corner and conversations continued throughout Thursday night/early morning. If I stayed any longer, I would have requested a room in a different location.
The room was clean. Location is right in the center of shops and close to the city courtyard. Staff was super friendly. The complimentary breakfast came with fresh fruit, coffee, juice, eggs, cheese, and an arepa. Good value.

We stayed here after a very long bus journey and as a stop over to Salento. The room was exceptionally big and comfortable, and after weeks of backpacking, the bathroom was incredible (the shower and hot, hot water!). The staff were helpful and friendly.
