Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. SwitzerlandNoisy bed. Towels and bed sheets are not included, additional 20 CHF per person, but you can bring yours. You need to add 6 CHF per day/person for the tourist tax. Thank you to Oliver for is flexibility with check-in and check-out, very much appreciated.
Excellent communication with Oliver. Very clear instructions. Well furnished, organised and clean flat. Excellent value. I recommend. A covered parking next to the flat is included.

SwitzerlandIt's not something we didn't like, these are just less positive points for us personally : the bed is 140 x 200 cm and we were not a couple so we would have preferred a bigger bed but if you sleep with your lover no problem ! The bed makes some noise when somebody moves in the bed. The couch in the living room is 125 x 200 cm so if 2 people have to sleep on that couch it’s too small. There is only one set of keys for the apartment.
Very well equipped apartment with fondue set, raclette set, salt, sugar, oil, vinegar, tea, coffee, dishsoap, towels for the kitchen, toilet paper, material to clean, etc etc. The apartment is very cosy and well decorated and clean, there is a private covered parking, the bus stop is 3 minutes walking distance, the area is very quiet, there is a ski room on the ground floor, there is a lift, there is a big balcony to enjoy the sun. The owner is very nice, the communication was very easy and we even had a welcome gift. He arranged with the cleaning service so that we could enter earlier so that my baby could have her nap in the apartment and the day we had to leave, as there were no new guests on that day we could have stayed a few hours more.
