It is a new hotel, but the best one that we went to in tanzania. The staff is lovely and helped us out werever they could. Would definitly go back if we are at mafia island in the future.

Beautiful bungalows with a huge garden directly in front of the beach. All the bungalows have a big glass front where you can see the garden and at some locations the beach. Incredibly nice staff - try to help and accommodate wherever they can. Could change the room without problems as I needed AC to be able to sleep (March can be incredibly hot and humid). Even came back to the hotel after diving on the other side of the island. Everything seems a bit rustic as first but you will definitely fall in love with it. There is a really really nice gift shop with handicrafts on site - really nice woman from the village, definitely one to support. The locations to the beach is super close and to the left there are two more hotels you can go for dinner or a drink. People all know each other on Mafia and help you with everything! :) Breakfast is great!

Nice breakfast served by Karibu. :-) I have got fruits, pancakes, ginger tea, eggs,... With the most beautiful ocean view. They make delicious veggie burgers, nice seafood, etc. Beautiful local bungalow - super clean. Cleaning ladies came 2 x a day to my bungalow to prepare room for my comfort. Very nice staff, always smiling, helpful. Owner Mussa is a great person. Highly recommend this place.

Breakfast and dinner was great, they have a really great chef and attentive personnel. They also rented us bikes for free, such that we could drive to the dive shop (~10 minutes by bike). Great and inexpensive stay!

The staff are great, making sure we had the best time there. They helped organise trips out around the island putting us at ease. The rooms are spacious with WiFi and air con. The food was good too.

We did whale shark diving with Afro Whale Shark Safari, and organized trips to Juni Island and Kua ruins through Mohammed from tourmafiaisland.com. He was friendly and well informed. There is so much to explore on Mafia island, but it is trickier to stay in killindoni & organize tours from there all most are arranged through the lodges at chole bay. However we had a great stay and experience! Amazing beaches, sunsets, walks, forests!

This is mostly a dive area, though the resorts are happy to help you book snorkeling tours and trips to other areas. The small village has very few amenities and is definitely not a party town, but the beachfront is a great place to relax with a book after diving or swimming. Some resorts offer paddle boards and bikes (ask at Mafia Island Lodge). Waves restaurant is right on the beach and offers a few really good plates for 15,000-20,000 TZS. Be prepared to order ahead (early afternoon for dinner) at any of the dive resorts and 1-2 hours ahead for any other place besides the few ready-made restaurants in the village or at the roundabout at the end of the road that offer rice, beans and fish or samosas. Also remember that you will pay around $24 (including tax) for any night spent in the marine park that starts at the beginning of town.

Meremeta, the founder and owner, as well as his staff are exceptional. You will find big, very clean and comfortable rooms, as well as great food with local prising. Furthermore Meremeta will be making sure you discover the island and miss no possible activities (if you want, he doesn't try to persuade you, no worries). It's by far the best acommodation you're going to have at Mafia Island! We travelled through Tanzania for over a month and we never felt this welcomed and appreciated as with Meremeta.
Wonderful staff, excellent beds and a very nice swimming pool. The chef made some very good meals and the room was very spacious and very new. The staff is also very helpful if you want to explore the island. I can highly recommend Mafia Dream Hotel if you are looking for a place at Mafia Island.
I really enjoyed my stay here in the tent zone! Just steps away from the ladies' bathroom which was well-maintained and always clean. The tent is as described and was perfectly comfortable for my stay! I feel that it may be a little small for two, but it was perfect for one. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler! The restaurant and relaxation area are nice. Staff were lovely, from the restaurant to the diving center. The best part is that there are several places to get a drink or dine nearby if you'd like (I recommend Pamela's on the beach, just two minutes walk away!) I would definitely consider staying here again, good value for money!
