Set in Podkraj, 58 km from Trieste, Gostilna Stara Pošta boasts a restaurant and free WiFi. This was the most special stay during our Balkan trip. The house is built on top of Roman ruins in the area. There is a small museum in one room which explains the history of the place. Do not miss it. It is beautifully done. Room was clean and cosy with view towards a quite road and another pretty house. Good food and wine. It is served in the restaurant on the ground floor which bears aura of old times. The views around the house are great. Several trails to walk. Great place to stay if you are visiting Postojna cave, just 30 minutes away. And 15 minutes from Predjama Castle.

The house is beautiful and isolated in a forest, and this is exactly the place for those who are looking for peace and quiet. The kitchen has everything you need, and the house is comfortable and suitable for families with children, who were very enthusiastic about what is inside the house and the facilities outside and the green surroundings. The host is a generous man who happily provides everything the house has to offer, and the house has a lot to offer: organic vegetables from the home garden, real peace, impressive nature and a sky full of stars. To our delight, we received from the owner a large jar of honey, made by himself, which was produced from the flowers in the areas surrounding the house. The drive to the house requires driving on winding roads in the forest, and arriving at night can be a bit challenging.

This property is fantastic. The hot tub, sauna, and fireplace were exactly what we wanted. The privacy of the location and the amazing views were a much enjoyed extra. The small cabin is also impressively stocked. We did a bit of cooking and had access to every kitchen tool we could want. My wife and I were very comfortable and will certainly be staying there again!

We enjoyed our time at Gostilna Tratnik a lot and recommend it to everyone looking for a authentic stay in Slovenia. Milos, Tommy and the whole family are really nice hosts. They gave us excellent recommendation for trips, hiking tours or a convivial wine tasting down the valley with local wine grapes. The location up the hill at Col at about 600m was a great starting point for hiking tours (starting directly at the hostel) and to discover the whole Karst region. During summer the height difference to the valley offers comfortable temperatures during night and day. The breakfast was a good, abundant start in the day. We further strongly recommend the dinner in the restaurant at a very reasonable price. Milos and his son are passionate cookers and are seeking to serve traditional and regional food from Slovenia. We will definitely come back again!

We stayed here with a family of seven. The hostel is located in a picturesque place. The food here is very tasty. We ordered dinner and breakfast and everything was great. Special thanks for the early breakfast. Since we had to leave early in the morning, breakfast was arranged for us very early.

Very kind owner who waited for us till late evening to check in, she was very helpfull and generous. We had everything needed for over night stay during our travels. Recharging stop close to beautiful church with unique mosaics.
