The little houses are wonderfully located. You are surrounded by nature and a close drive to Te Arai Beach (where you can take surf lessons as well). We only stayed for one night but would have loved to stay longer. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The place clean, sunny and the oerfect size for two ppl with baggage. We would definetly come back if we could! Very good prize for what is offered.

Chalet Cullen, offers accommodations in Mangawhai, 1.1 miles from Mangawhai Heads Beach. This property offers access to a balcony, darts, free private parking, and free Wifi. Even though we only had a single overnight stay at Chalet Cullen, we must say it’s on our top ten experiences of what we have had during our 6 weeks vacation in New Zealand. The unit was fine and cozy, and with a great view to the beach. The local radio station (FM 90.4) plays pop/rock from the good old days. What’s not to like. We can only give our best recommendations.

Some units have a seating area where you can relax.... It would take me a whole day to list everything I liked about my stay but I’ll name the key players. Firstly, the hosts Peter and Sara were such welcoming and friendly people. As soon as I arrived they invited me to have dinner with them, and we finished off a lovely night in with a game of Rummikub. Secondly, the location is just stunning. Peter took me to see the dairy farm next door and even let me have a go milking the cows (not by hand haha), and after he took me on a hike up the local mountain which had a 360 degree view of the landscapes. Also an honourable mention goes to the tens of animals I met while staying there - my fave were Sara’s horses. It was the best way I could’ve kicked off my NZ trip. Thanks so much Peter and Sara for having me! I would recommend this place 100 times over.
