This is quite simply one of the most fantastic places I have ever stayed. Harold House has been restored to immaculate condition. When we arrived, we spent ages simply wandering around marvelling at these gorgeous, well-appointed rooms and all the fascinating heritage features and items. The location is very convenient in Reefton township, but also quiet. If you are visiting the West Coast, I highly recommend staying here; we wished we had booked longer—in terms of accommodation, it was the best of our entire road trip around the South Island.

Newton Flat
Great backpackers hostel along with attached cafe and bar right on the state highway. Amazing view of Buller River and the mountains. The owner is super friendly and flexible and helped us check in, sold us beer and we hung out in the dining area til late. The hostel portion has two shared bathrooms with good showers and a kitchen to use. Staying here made our trip so much better and more fun!

The lady at the desk was so nice! She recommended a couple of places to eat, and she was right about how good they were. The bed was comfy and the room had a nice tub. She gave us milk and cookies, too!

The seaside cottage was superb, especially the views. All modern convenciences and the cottage was well-maintained like it was still new, it was like staying at someone else's house. The cabins were charming but didn't have enough insulation/heating (we're from the tropics-but those from temperate climes won't mind at all) but they did provide electric blankets. I didn't get to see the Bush cottage where the rest of my friends stayed so can't comment about that. Loved the honesty system no-contact check-in. Just find your name on the board and get the key (and if you're booking doesn't reflect on the board, just get the key and sort it out later with them).
Location was great, it had everything you need, and being the month of August it was cosy.
I loved everything about my stay in the cabin at the Beach Camp. It was so cozy, stylish and Spotlessly clean. The staff make sure the shared bathrooms and kitchen are clean and provide a nice environment for everyone to gather. It rained so hard the morning I had to leave and they gave me a ride to the bus stop - so kind! Thank you!!
