Hotel in Campbeltown
Dellwood Hotel is set on the main road into Campbeltown. Set In its own grounds and 5 minutes’ walk from the town center, the family-run Dellwood has a restaurant, bar and free WiFi. The Dellwood was wonderfully hospitable and was great part of my stay in Campbeltown. Tracey and Bruce greeted me with some of the warmest hospitality I have ever received. They made me feel like I was staying at my favorite aunt and uncle’s home. The view over the town was incredible with clear sight lines of the sunrise over the harbor. Glen Scotia is literally a stones throw away and Springbank Distillery/Downtown Campbeltown is <8 minute walk. There is also a grocery store under a 5 minute walk nearby for last minute snacks/drinks/and supplies. Adjacent to the lobby there is an adorable bar and dining room. The entire property is uniquely decorated, clean, and very well maintained for such an older building. Great representation of the charm and magic that is Campbeltown! My only regret is that I had an early bus and wasn’t able to stay for the full breakfast (It had my mouth WATERING as I passed by. Bruce was so kind and packed me a bacon sandwich while Tracey had stocked me up with snacks for the trip, so thoughtful!).

Staying in the Carradale Hotel on our Kintyre Trail, we have been very welcome by the team, being a "Very dog friendly" Hotel, even the dog had a welcome box with treats (and p** bags). The room facing to the shore line was spacious, comfortable and quiet. We had nice walks around the area. The meal in the evening was mind blowing: Mostly locally sourced fine angus beef, fresh local Langoustines, fresh "Churros" filled with caramel cream... Also a nice garden/beer garden with excellent views.
If you’re touring then this is a perfectly adequate stopover hotel. Mull of Kintyre is a beautiful peninsular and well worth a look. If your plans involve a stop at the Southern end of the peninsular then the Argyle is in the right place. A large building with a somewhat tired and dated decor but clean, good sized rooms. The staff were pleasant, professional and suitably attentive and the breakfast was good. Overall, good value for money but not somewhere you’d rave to your friends about.
Campbeltown
Spacious and cosy living room with cheery decor and big sofa. Plenty of natural light from large windows with fine views across the countryside.. Solid dining table and chairs. Over our five night stay the shower and kitchen facilties were very reliable. Bedroom comfortable and quiet. Good lighting in the apartment which was clean throughout. Nice welcoming touch with milk, biscuits and crisps.! Jennifer helpful. Parking okay. An ideal base for seeing Kintyre.
Glenbarr
We visited for one night out of season.. Glenbarr is a tiny hamlet on the Atlantic coast of the Kintyre peninsula. The room was warm and comfortable and very quiet. There was also a communal living/dining/kitchen for use if required. We went to a local hotel for our meal but will use the kitchen facilities when we return. Breakfast was taken in the adjoining café, continental breakfast with a hot roll which was good. We would stay here again.
Tarbert
Lovely apartment with tasteful furnishings and decor. The lounge area was spacious, the kitchen well equipped, the bed comfortable and it was nice to have an outdoor seating area. Our host rang us to let us know the accomodation was ready if wanted to check in early. The Steadings is in a very convenient location with easy access to Arran, Islay, Kintyre, Cowal Peninsula and more.
Very welcoming on arrival. Excellent room with views out to Islay. Great menu choice for both evening meal and breakfast. To be honest I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. The proprietors are doing a very good job at creating a cosy professional independent hotel and we are looking forward to staying there again on our next trip to Kintyre.
Campbeltown
It was a lovely apartment right near the harbour in Campbeltown. The host has thought of everything, even milk and teabags, and tunnocks teacakes. It was exceptionally clean, and the facilities were excellent. Best shower ever!!! Already planning my next visit to stay there. A lovely space to stay and relax in whilst exploring Kintyre.
Bellochantuy
Beach front location. Argyll Hotel right beside the small caravan site. The hotel has a bar and does amazing food. The beach is very quiet and clean golden sands. Roads are quiet and the Kintyre Peninsula is feels very secluded and not touristy. Dog friendly caravan and hotel.
For Scottish people, the breakfast is copious. For French people it is less elaborate. However we would appreciate with bread, jam, marmalade and butter, a fruit and a yogurt with cereals and milk (especially for the walkers on the Kintyre way).
Excellent breakfast. Great service. I especially liked the informality. Everything very well organised. No parking problems
Warm, cosy, comfortable, beautiful surrounds. Staff were fantastic and dinner/ breakfast was scrumptious. Thank you Lori and Roger :)
Lovely location in the countryside with stunning views. Great amenities - especially the BBQ and picnic tables which we used a lot! Well-equipped, comfortable beds, good wifi. Dog -friendly. Good communications with host. Arrival and departure straightforward.
Made very welcome, nice view of harbour from room, good breakfast
