We just stayed in Azofra to tour wineries in La Rioja. Well situated for Muga and others we wanted to see on our way to San Sebastián.
Located in the La Rioja wine region, surrounded by great food and wine, lots of small villages scattered throughout the area. Will probably stay at a smaller village next time. LaGuardia looks great.
Albelda is a good choice to stay for a short trip on the La Rioja wine route. It is a short drive to Logrono- where you can get your fill of Pintxos and vino! The village itself is a quiet sleepy one- but with very picturesque countryside. On the whole, a good location to sty a night or two.
happy city. it is not pointed clearly on all web sites, that the wine festival is mainly for local- La Rioja- people. I should have cut my stay to- 1-2 and mainly on san mathue (21/9/2016) day and live the city to continu on my Camino Santiago pilgrim.
Calle Laurel was the best street, for some reason we could not visit the cathedral when we were there which was disappointing. The La Rioja Museum was another great attraction.
La Rioja region, excellent wines. Visit Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres and enjoy the wine. Beautiful sites.
Food friendly town that is also capital of La Rioja wine region. On the Camono of Santiago with pretty river front on the Ebro. Small enough for easy navigation but large enough for many restaurants and tapas bars.
Haro the location of the oldest wineries in Rioja - Take the time to visit at least 2 a day. Book ahead so you can do the tours. La RIoja, Alta and R. Lopez Heredia are the best ones the most wines tasted 4 or 5. But for an interesting tasting go to Martinez Lacuesta and ask for a tasting of the Vermouth which is amazing. Muga is the youngest and not one of the originals but a solid tour. At CUNE (CVNE) and Muga they give you the glass as a part of the tour but skimp on the tastings.

Villa de Abalos is in a very small village, centrally located in the La Rioja region, and easily accessible to all major destinations in the region. The village is very quaint and charming. We loved the hike we took from the hotel door (no driving needed) up into the mountains above the village, through vineyards in the lower elevations, then into steeper terrain higher up.

- value for money - proximity to La Rioja vineyards - nice room with a view overlooking the square - peaceful small town - parking; it says that there is no parking available but one can park on the square outside of workdays' business hours (during that time, we parked on the small street behind the town hall and it was fine)

This is a place for those who wants a relaxing and quite holiday. The hotel is located in an isolated area, the closest towns are 20 minutes by car. We went visiting Pamplona and Soria which are 1 and a half hour away from the hotel. Food at the restaurant of the hotel is quite good. Our dog was able to stay free outside (where there is a big garden) and in our room, in the other areas of the hotel the dog was not allowed.

It is a beautifully restored building that retains original charm while having all modern niceties. The bed was fantastic and the room nice and quiet. The patio bar seating in the town square was very enjoyable. It is still the heart of the town and is not overrun with tourists. The restaurant is excellent; professional courteous staff and elegantly prepared and presented dishes.
