I love experiencing ancient History. And this is a perfect place for that. I wish I would have stayed a bit longer here. We visited Imperial City of Hue. We hired a bike and it was very convenient for us.

Loved the antiquities museum.
Loved the antiquities museum. Situated near the citadel but a separate ticket. Lovely old wooden palace. Takes about 1-1.5hr to visit. Often missed in the day tours. A day tour is a good idea as they drive you around to the key sights which are quite dispersed. Often excellent value with lunch thrown in.

The Citadel was a little disappointing.
The Citadel was a little disappointing. It has the potential to be a major attraction. The grounds needed lots of attention. The main royal palace was under construction or maintenance, so a 'no-go zone'.
The audio guide and associated map numbering system used to direct users to all the features of the site was very hard to follow and in some cases inaccurate.

Having read about the damage to the Citadel during the 1968...
Having read about the damage to the Citadel during the 1968 events, expectations about the Citadel were modest. However, both the city and the Citadel turned out to be quite charming and captivating. We spent more than half a day exploring the Citadel.
Using Grab for transportation made it easy and convenient to explore the city.
Just try avoid going during hot periods - we went early April and felt temperatures were extremely hot around 42-44c.

In addition Hue is still not too overrun by tourists, i.e. if you stay a couple of nights at which you have the opportunity to go to local restaurants like CHAN and see how vietnamese families enjoy life.

Hotels don't carry enough tourist information for first time visitors. This should be the role of the Tourist Board. Also a better city map showing more details on how to get to the sites, where to buy tickets and where is the entrance.
The Century is a large conference center which overlooks the Perfume River and is right across the street from several trendy restaurants. You can’t complain about the location, it’s ideal. It also has a nice outside pool which was the other reason why we chose to stay there.
We also took Expedia’s offer to upgrade to a Family Suite that overlooks the river and it was a lovely view. The buffet breakfast was expansive with a variety of Western and Vietnamese foods. Lots of Vietnamese travel groups stayed at this hotel.
This is such a fantastic hotel. The rooms are clean and the location is great with a ton of restaurants all around. The service is especially outstanding. In particular, Ruby went above and beyond to help us with everything. From arranging laundry, to calling local shops, to ordering taxis - she was essential to making our stay a great one. She was always polite, friendly, and efficient. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend to anyone coming to Hue!
The best place to stay in Hue. Service is amazing and all the staff is really nice. Special mention for the amazing Mermaid restaurant staff including Mr Quong who ensured our request for some special dishes were met. These small gestures truly deserve 5 star review. Have been staying and reviewing since last 10 days various restaurant and hotel, this sort of topped the hospitality levels. The front desk and Mr. Ben who helped with pickup drop shuttle was all really nice.
The hotel is in Hue center, close to everything you need. Beds are really comfortable, rooms are decorated with style and everything is perfectly clean.
Eva, the owner, is a friendly and lovely person, ready to help and give all the information you need to explore the city and the surroundings. She is also helpful in organizing tours and bus tickets to reach other destinations in Vietnam.

La Vela is an upmarket Hotel, about a 10-minute taxi ride from the center of Hue. There is a free shuttle twice a day into town and back again. The infinity pool on the rooftop is amazing, and the food at the restaurant was 10/10 with exceptional presentation. We enjoyed a free full buffet breakfast with more options than you could imagine. Our room was large with plenty of space for suitcases opened out, and we had good views from our room

Fantastic, as an hotel the facilities were good, even a tv in the room , (although they didnt love it when i moved my bed to the floor and watched southpark lol)
HUE is not like most other hotspots in vietnam, there is no major backpackers/ social place so when u book a place LOOK FOR A GOOD BED! , this has a great bed, central , everything within 5 min walk

The best and most welcoming staff of all the places we stayed in Vietnam. They cannot do enough for you. The hotel is lovey and value for money is sensational. Only an easy and nice 10mins walk from the business part of Hue. Shout out to the head cocktail maker at the main bar - guy absolutely knows what he’s doing. Breakfast is epic. Pool is perfect. You won’t regret staying here.
Amazing hotel right in the heart of Hue, classy, clean and very friendly. The food was delicious and the rooftop bar is amazing definitely check it out. The staff were so friendly and helpful with booking taxi’s and trains and local tourists information. Especially Van Duc, he was always there and ready to help with anything we needed. One of our favourite stays in Vietnam so far - the hotel seems higher than 3 stars. The rooms are beautiful with hand painted touches. Everything was comfortable, clean and spacious. The Homestay-Manager is amazing! Super nice and really helpful. Also bikes are really cheap to rent, and you can explore all of Hue from the Homestay by yourself. They offer Vietnamese Breakfast, and have an amazing restaurant 20m from the Homestay, you should definitly go there!
