Royal Grove Waikiki, hotel in Honolulu

The Royal Grove Waikiki is set in Honolulu and located a short distance from attractions such as Waikiki Beach, International Market Place, and the famed Duke Paoa Kahanamoku Statue.

The room had a kitchen, table, couch, bed and bathroom. It was more of a motel studio apartment. There were a few clean kitchen plates for our pizza, a microwave that mostly worked when you pressed certain buttons, and the door locked. Look, it’s not modern or updated. It’s basically a motel vibe but if you can’t afford a nicer hotel or don’t want to stay in a hostel… this is perfect. It was perfect for our night.

FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

What Guests Said About Honolulu:

    Loved everything about Honolulu!

Loved everything about Honolulu! Great beaches, food, shopping etc. The Moana is a classic place to stay and some great restaurants (Tommy Bahama, House Without a Key, Dukes, some great Poke Bars for lunch) and many more. Easy walking distance to most shops, bars and restaurants. Downside, tipping is out of control and very much expected even when there is basically no service or average service at best in some places.

Waikiki is a beautiful place but little high prices, good weather in May from 70-82F. ocean water cool for swimming several hours. This is my 4 time in Waikiki, my suggestion is 5 days in Honolulu is good enough for tours, walk, and swimming. Kan Sushi all you can eat lunch 28 diner 38 are good to try. Marugame Udon is less busy around 10am to 11am. Malasada is good to try Island Advantage Shave Ice is the best. At Kona Coffee Purveyors try Kona affogato or cortado coffee. Try to go Costco to buy local gift if you can to save a of money. and some of good to eat place like Nico Pier 38, Legend Chinese restaurant, Asia Mall

Honolulu is a place you can make as busy or as relaxing as you want. Ample food options, beautiful beaches and incredible sunsets to ensure with friends and family. Shopping and discovering both the history and the culture of the area make for a well-rounded destination no matter your interests. Worth while exploring the island too if you have the chance. There are plenty of day tours available that take in some incredible sites up the east coast of the island and around the north shore. Definitely a destination that you can return to time and time again.

Great choice of activities included in the price as well as WiFi and remote WiFi dongle made available for guests free of charge. Pool area is very nice and chairs were available any time of the day. Everybody knows the Waikiki Beach area of Honolulu is very overpriced & unnecessarily so. This hotel is by no means cheap for a stay per night but is the best value for money in that area & the staff are excellent. Add to that a free continental breakfast & how much more spending power staying at this hotel puts in your pocket for the vacation, it takes a bit of beating for Waikiki. It was a very pleasant stay. It is not a spectacular hotel, but very nice for the area & very well positioned for a stay in Waikiki.

The hotel is located in Waikiki (second row), it only takes you a few minutes to walk to Waikiki beach and many Waikiki restaurants. The hotel also offers free beach gear such as towels, beach umbrellas and beach mats. Our room fee also included a solid breakfast with fresh fruit. You can also get coffee and water in the hotel lobby all day. The staff at the reception desk is very friendly and well-trained. Valet-parking is - compared to other hotels in Waikiki - rather cheap and very efficient.

Fantastic location directly across the road from the pier between the sheltered Kūhiō Beach and surfy Queen's Beach and also from the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park at the end of the Waikiki hotel strip. There's free parking in the soundshell car park a few minutes walk away. The pool on the third floor has great all-round views of the ocean, park and Diamond Head. There's no pool-side bar but it is a lovely oasis above the crowds and we took our own drinks.

Even before I arrived, Anthony was extremely helpful! He arranged for a pick up and drop off at the airport, gave me a list of recommendations to eat at around Waikiki and Ala Moana, and checked in on me throughout the day to make sure I was enjoying my stay. The hotel room was cool and clean, and is in a very convenient location (only about a 5-10 minute walk from the beach at Hilton Hawaiian Village). I highly recommend!

Staff were very friendly - the service was great. The location was fantastic- almost on the beach! ABC store in the building which was reasonable (given Hawaii prices) for water/food/alcohol. The hotel has an agreement with an equipment rental shop slightly up the street where you can get 3 items per room per day for free eg beach chairs and umbrellas. beach towels were also provided for free at the hotel itself.

Location can not be matched! We were from beach to the bath in a few minutes. The room was dated but exceptionally clean. Serviced everyday. Staff were phenomenal. We were locked out of our room having left a room key in there. Someone was up to open it for us within 5 mins. We loved the option of hiring lounge chairs on the beach that were exclusive to the hotel. A true holiday!

Location is right near the beach and across from an ABC mart. Very convenient for those who enjoy walking around shops and restaurants. Takes about 15 mins to get to the main shops of the Royal Hawaiian. It was a small hotel so we didn't have to wait long for elevators. This is my favourite hotel in Waikiki and our third stay in less than three years. The location is perfect, the staff are incredible, the room is a decent size and you can always get a lounger at the pool. I've stayed at The Royal Hawaiian, Moana Surfrider, Alohilani, Mariott, and many other properties and this one trumps them all in my mind for the price.
