A small and beautiful city. There are lots of nice small restaurants providing authentic local food, which is fresh and tastes so good.
People here are very nice!
If you need to rent a car, make sure you have international driving permit. Otherwise you are not allowed to rent a car.
Taroko national park is a must visit attraction . It is amazing !

Initially the hotel indicated that we need to bring all personal towel and cleaning items eg. shampoo conditioner soap and toothpaste etc etc but we found they provided everything when we got there. It's so easy get around in Hualien there are lots of buses.

The Taroko Gorge was quite a site to behold.
The Taroko Gorge was quite a site to behold. We had a private TourGuide, Allen, who was full of great historical knowledge not only of Taiwan, but of the Taroko people. We also took the opportunity to go river rafting and were able to do a shrimp, catching and nighttime barbecue, which was delicious!

Hualien is easily accessible by train from small or major cities, either with the express or local trains. It is also a great starting point to discover the central east cost, with wonders like Taroko gorge and Walami trail.
In the city, the Dongdamen night market is worth spending a few evenings.

The city itself is big and need time to explore. The coastal park facing the Pacific Ocean is highly recommended to visit. Also the Taroko Gorge tour is a must together with the many other sightseeing tours.
It's a beautiful and cozy hotel (building), big tables, comfortable sofa & chairs, tea bags and coffee machine at lobby. We could study/work/read at lobby before check in time and in the evenings during the stay. The staff are very friendly, ready to help but never disturb the guests. The room is comfortable, with big openable windows and well equipped lavatory. The location is good, with lots of restaurants nearby and 10min walk distance to downtown, night market, and the beach park.
We really enjoyed our stay so much. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The hosts are extraordinary friendly, courteous and helpful. They gave us taxi to the railway station and also their bicycles for a day ride. Every morning we had a delicious vegetarian breakfast and during the day, they surprised us with taiwanese fruits and mochis. Special thanks for the fermented tofu ;-)

The kids themed family room was cute! The girls loved the toys and it was a great way to help them to relax. If we had stayed longer I’m sure we would have also taken advantage of the library. Breakfast was simple with a decent selection of Taiwanese food, fruit, toast and cereal. We had lunch at a wonton soup place just next door. The night market is a few minutes walk away. You can walk to the seaside as well but there isn’t much of a sidewalk.
This accomodation was outstanding value, located close to the heart of Hualien City. The room was exceptionally clean and spacious; the bed very comfortable; and good bath room facilities. The shared kitchen and dining area was equally well equipped. The building as a whole is modern and tastefully decorated… the owner really has thought of every detail. Highly recommended!
It was the best hotel I stayed in Taiwan! Very nice, helpful and professional staff, all necessary facilities, very good room with nice view, very nice rooftop terrace, I could do my laundry by myself, tasty breakfast with a variety of options. :) Great location, close to main cycle routes. Bnb/hotel was charming, guests are treated to a scrumptious breakfast and greeted by the friendly owner, his dog Banana, and cat. The spacious and pristine rooms complement the ideal location within walking distance of Dongdamen Night Market, ensuring a delightful stay for all. Also, amazing ocean views from the 4th floor.
The room size was nice and rooms were clean. Bathrooms were in separate room. The room we had, had a very large king size bed. The hotel was clean and attractive. They held our luggage for us when we arrived early and had umbrellas for us to use. It was very close to Hualien train station. Walkable to many restaurants.
The location is very convenient. We like the room size . it’s spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. They show us what’s fun in Hualien. They also provide night snacks and it’s fun to cook taiwanese style noodles. Both of us like the soup and seasonings. it’s a great experience.
The bed was amazing - so comfortable! The best bed we slept in over three weeks travelling in Taiwan. Room was big, light and spacious. Bennet was lovely and friendly. Nice extra touches, like free tea and coffee. We stayed twice and really liked the hostel.

Each piece of furniture and decor has been chosen carefully. Everything is very high quality. The coffee barista does barista competitions and has developed his own fragrance of coffee. I travel a lot and this hotel as impressed me the most.
The location was a little bit out of town but it’s easily accessible from the nearest bus station. The hotel was clean and really comfortable. The staff was helpful and easy to check in. The view from the balcony was exceptional.
Taiwanese owner is very very helpful! He brought me to the night market by scooter, explained many things related to hiking in Taiwan and helped me understand better different aspects about Taiwan. Nice check-in process!
