As mentioned by many reviews, the hotel is getting old. But it is still well maintained in my opinion. It exudes an atmosphere of outdated luxury, but that's what I like about it. The staff is really very attentive. Breakfast absolutely sufficient for the price paid. Water pressure excellent on the 9th floor. My room was very clean, even some of the "hidden places" were clean, which is quite unusual in Thailand, you know.

Very comfortable bed (not always the case in Thailand). Water hot, wifi good, aircon good, fridge, desk, enough plugs. Hotel is located downtown, but in a quiet, non-touristy area. For digital nomads, there's a really excellent coffee shop (not a chain) with a garden in a small mall just round the corner. Facilities clean, but generic (with the exception of giant action figures in the lobby, which kids might like). 24/7 front desk is efficient.

I stay here because the staff was once very kind to me, retrieving a lost article. The same staff is still works here.
Everything is fine. Mattress is good (not too hard, not too soft). Quiet. Hot water, fridge, WiFi, aircon all fine. The windows open for fresh air. There is a desk. There are enough plugs. There is a reading light by the bed, which is nice.
There's an excellent coffee shop with a nice garden, Marmalett, to the right on Sri Chant, about a 10 minute walk.
Location is convenient to Khon Kaen hospital (and also the famous Tawandaeng concert/cocktail venue).

There is plenty to do in Khon Kaen and lots of places to visit. I would definitely recommend a vist to Ton Tann night Market. A vast variety of food stalls with wonderful food together with general market selling clothing and many other goods. There is also live entertainment with a number of bars close by.

Khon Kaen is my waypoint for journeys to the north not accessible by train, so I don't see the sights (like bouldering). Khon Kaen, compared to frenetic and chaotic Bangkok, seems sober, even sedate. However, Khon Kaen grows on you, because it has everything you could want, and is manageable. No traffic jams! Getting around is easy with tuk tuks (pricey), song taews, a municipal bus system, and Grab.
My favorite restaurant is a solid and reliable "boiled rice place," at Pimphasut and Clang Muang, open 'til 1:00am:

For us it is really nice since we have family living there.
For us it is really nice since we have family living there. Visiting the Khon Kaen museum is well worth a trip to see the history of Khon Kaen and the people living there throughout history.
We recommend using Grab for getting around Khon Kaen since it is cheap and working really well. If you want to drive around and explore more of Khon Kaen and Isaan renting a car is well worth it. We rented a car for a for a couple of days one week and for our last week and went on several trips that we enjoyed. Visiting different markets is well worth it and the Saturday market on the road close to Romantic Inn is a nice way to spend the evening with good food and friendly people.

Town was clean and tidy and appeared safe.
The local covered food market is huge and very well priced. Oysters were 100bht for 3 dozen with condiments. And beautiful.
Singha Golf Course is excellent.
It is a busy city. Local nightclubs are busy with a strong student presence.

I have been to Khon Kaen many times over many years , and have seen this town grow from a small town to a large busy .modern town.
Khon Kaen , has many places to see and even more great places to eat , being a university town it is very vibrant and the town seems to reflect that. Temples are a great reason to visit this city , but food seems to be the very big attraction.
There's free breakfast, but I sleep late. This is a very new hotel, and all the facilities and the decor are new. The room was not very large, but the bed was big. Bedding was excellent. Light switches and plugs were plentiful and well-organized. Bed has reading lights. Room was high up and quiet. Hot water excellent. WiFi good. There is a cafe one block away.
The exceptional staff called me a cab for the next stage of my journey. This is good because hailing a cab from the street in Khon Kaen is a nightmare.
I reach the Hotel with taxi from Airport at 200 THB. Easy Check in and payment. I find the room clean and enough large, with all amenites working it like some the toilet.
Downstairs can find restaurant Sorrento, and for breakfast there is Cafè Amazon or in the left side a Coffe bar.
Recommended visit at Hidden Cafè opposite the hotel, just only to entry in the closed street for 100 mt.
The receptionist can call Taxi Grab for airport at140 THB. The trip is 15 minute.
I traveled to Khon Kaen to participate in the 6th International Palaeontological Congress held in that city, and my stay at Mantra Varee Hotel was very comforting, the room was very comfortable, good internet and excellent breakfast and location for walking. In addition, the reception was very helpful in resolving airline ticket changes and finding a specific place to print a poster.
I had stayed in the property 10 years previously, sadly no bar or entertainment,
no menus in room, no dining other than an overpriced restaurant that was empty.
Very disappointing, the attitude of some staff leaves one feeling upset about what was and is now.
Failing internet & the general feeling gave me no pleasure in staying in such aged & tired hotel,
I enjoyed the quietness of the location and all the facilities I needed for my stay. All the staff and everybody involved with the Guest House was very pleasant.
Most of all was the owners who I enjoyed their company and down to earth people and will be I staying with them when I return to Thailand
If you have a flight from the airport in Khon Kaen and are looking for somewhere easy to access with great facilities, this is it. We were surprised with the location itself, how nicely decorated it was and overall charming. Food was very good.
The room was spacious with a separate kitchen area, bathroom and large balcony. The staff were extremely helpful. Our car broke down near the hotel and a staff member took us in his truck to jumpstart it. He was very king and helpful 🙏
An ok hotel for Khon Kaen with a good location and alright room size. Pretty standard facilities but very dated for what it was. It was ok for staying there for one or two nights maximum and it accmmodated my stay quite well.
Location was key, I have never stayed in Khon Kaen, but day tripped here, I spent 2 days and the staff are lovely, gracious and super helpful. Asked for a later check and reception was more than happy to accommodate.
This hotel is a grand old lady. Yes, it’s seen better years but the performance of the staff all doing their jobs well, make it worthwhile for me. The breakfast buffet was quite good.
