The staff are really nice. The hostel is next to the city center with the cathedral, bars, resturants and grocery stores. There is a good kitchen for cooking and it's a decently social hostel with people lounging around the main area. They have an arepa making class Mondays or tuesday nights? Good way to meet people. I got the private room and it was very spacious. Quiet at night and very safe. I would recommend staying here if you can .

The place was clean and comfortable, the ladies that host it were attentive and sweet and spoke both English and Spanish. The breakfast was very good and freshly prepared. Bed was comfy and the fan was pretty powerful. Location is great too, safe and about 15 minutes to center.

You see a lot of crap online of wether or not Santa Ana is safeS we had zero problems and never felt unsafe at all. Santa Ana and El Salvador in general have made huge inprovements in safety these last years. The town is nice , you'll strugle to find a building with more than 2 stories. It has preserved it's old world charm. Not supermany things to do or see but a good base to go exploring from

The road especially the side streets are horrible.
The road especially the side streets are horrible. Needs a traffic officer in all the main road that are under construction even at night. I closed my eyes hoping that my husband won’t hit a vehicle as he drove on tight traffic areas. I’m worried that our rental car won’t break down on the unpaved roads- lots of rocks and open pits.
The Santa Ana people are very helpful and kind.

I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral.
I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral. As an amateur photographer, I also liked the colorful and dilapidated buildings around the cathedral. They made a great backdrop for street photography. Unfortunately, I spent only a day here so I was not able to see or do many things in the area. It is a great location to jump off the Ruta de las Flores though. I’m definitely happy that I decided to start the route here and not from San Salvador.

Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains.
Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains. The market is fun to explore and cathedral and theatre are gorgeous. Outside of town there are ruins, volcanoes, and a lake within an hour. The town doesn't have much tourism which gives it a more authentic feel, but also means you won't find many good restaurants around the square or at night.
Best staff, will help you do all the touristic activities in Santa Ana, will help you with transport to move to other cities, will give you personal care. We were helped find food late at night with the owner personally coming out with us at night. We managed to eat the best pupusas.
Pre-arrival communication to do touristic activities was on spot. Simply this is an amazing hotel, located close to the cathedral, theater and the very center of the city. You have to visit it to believe what I have written.
Rick is exceptional. He helped me with planning my three days in Santa Ana so well. It was so much fun to rent the motorbike and to drive around to all the interesting spots e.g. the volcano, the ruta de las flores and the lake. But how he helped me and my friend when she got seriously injured was outstanding. He was available on the phone within no time. He arranged a transport to the nearest hospital. And even the transport back to Santa Ana when my friend needed to get stitches. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Best hostel in Santa Ana, and I stayed at three! Don't expect luxury, but expect to be welcomed by the friendliest family, very helpful for tips and recommendations and they do everything to make you feel welcomed. Hostal has a kitchen, cold water to drink, warm water to shower, towels were provided, dorm was only four beds and had privacy curtains, plugs and your own light. With really big lockers! Central location, 20 min walk to the bus stations, close to center and food!
We went in as guests but left as friends, solely because of Juan's hospitality. Juan is an excellent host; always smiling and attentive to our needs, offering great suggestions on our activity-planning, and providing rides for a very reasonable price. The breakfasts provided each day were varied and tasty; in fact, the pupusas we had at Juan's place were one of the best we had on our trip. Thanks Juan (and Jocelyn) for a memorable stay!
A perfect place to explore Santa Ana with very welcoming hosts. Great recommendations on how to spend your time there and where to eat. Great location, only a short walk to the main square where you'll find restaurants, supermarkets and plenty of market stalls.
Clean, basic rooms and a small well equipped kitchen. Great communal space.
Thank you Luis and family. It's been lovely getting to know you all. We will return!
Such a fab little hostel! It felt so much like a home. It was a great place to meet friends and go on day trips in and around Santa Ana (Volcano, waterfalls, Ruta de las Flores). Comfortable space, adorable dog, comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen. Fernando the owner was super nice and friendly to us and helped us with all our needs. Motorcycle rental was great too. Definitely in my top 5 hostels!
This establishment is operated at an extremely high level. Every single thing is managed with the utmost of professionalism. Shaping and creating an unforgettable experience for each guest. To say Velvet Hotel is esthetically pleasing is an understatement. Its overwhelmingly beautiful. More like living in an art gallery for a short while. Which it is, and the breakfast served, art as well.
Hotel Brunette offers a great location. Just a few blocks away from the historic downtown, it's a great spot to start off an earlier trip of Santa Ana in which you will enjoy all this town has to offer.
The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, you can never go wrong with "típico".
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the price is unbeatable.
I just love this place. Cool vibe. Gorgeous property. Private rooms are very nice with super comfy beds and a nice fan. The staff are extremely cute with the patrons. The jetski was a highlight of my trip on this gorgeous lake. I parked my car in the fencing without a fee. The pupusas down the street are some of the best I had in El Salvador.
We loved our stay at Pool House Hostel, Adri and Roberto were wonderful hosts and such lovely people! Adri helped us with all our bus routes around Santa Ana and the Ruta de Las Flores, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The hostel itself is so cosy and Coco and Blackie are the cutest pets!
One of the best Hotels I ever stayed in El Salvador. This place and the people are so lovely. We booked first 2 nights and extended than 3 more night, we won’t not to leave.
When you searching a good place in Santa Ana to stay, here you go ! Thank you very much for everything
The hostel is in a great location in Santa Ana and there are two goats which is a unique experience. The people who were working at the hostel were very nice and informative about where we can go and what transportation we need to get to get to other areas in El Salvador.
It’s not everyday that you find a hostel in a former president’s house, but that’s what you got in Santa Ana. Pedro José Escalón used to live here in the beginning of the 20th century. It’s a beautiful house - a bit run down from the outside but certainly majestic inside.
good value for money, clean, and breakfast was small but perfect start to the day. staff were really helpful although don’t speak great English. for what you pay this is perfect for a couple of nights in Santa Ana.
Hotel is on a centric location, two blocks away from the main square and close to restaurants and shops. It felt like a safe spot. However it was close to other hotels which might have better value.
