The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. If skying it is worth booking the passes in advance as it saves a lot of money.

My 3rd time in High Tatra' and decided to stay for a month this time and loving it! Too many peeks to climb 😉. Very well marked trails with beautiful nature. Plenty of high peeks to climb although for some certified guide is required. And don't be fooled that the highest peeks are not as high as in the alps...it is very hard work and training is required to be able to climb them. Definitely a contender to Alps

Beautiful area especially in early June (15-30) when it's not overrun by tourists. Great for families and larger groups with many activities for each generation. Recommended visits: spa treatment at the Grand Hotels at Kempinski, Grand Hotel, and Hotel Lominca; hiking or taking a cable car to the 'plesa'--mountain lakes.

If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be.
If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be. There is skiing in winter, but we were there in summer and loved it. Be prepared for the language barrier: English is not much understood, probably better if you speak German. Luckily staff at the cableways and important tourist sites do speak English.

Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky...
Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky peaks and glacial lakes, breathtaking alpine-style landscapes, however also the most touristy region. After a windstorm of 2004 hesitantly transitioning from spruce plantation (that the locals are used to for a century) to the real mixed resilient forest. A perceptible tug-o-war between developers (skiing facilities, sterile grey hotels) and those wishing to preserve the original wilderness for less-heavy sort of tourism.
Nice wooden chalets, although often with socialist era habits and attitudes of the staff. Quite lacking in cozy individual huts. Slightly underwhelming transport (too infrequent) and missing more historical vehicles (trams, trains, ...). All a bit utilitarian and sterile, without added charm. Particularly a lack of non-template cafes with some charm is astonishing.
Sometimes absurdly high prices for the accommodation and food, inadequate to the generally lacking I-can-help-you-with-that-attitude among locals, sour faces and snapping. I appreciate that many facilities have started making their own food (not just microwaving pre-made industrial meals, the nemesis of Slovak tourism), even if the choice is often too much meat/flour/potatoes (i.e. Slovak taste) which may be difficult for many western visitors. It got better, with quite some way to improve - if there was a will for it.
I recommend all the nature hikes, particularly to the higher altitudes, peaks, tarns. Tasting different chalet teas. Visiting Podbanske spa, or Hotel Atrium spa. The Poprad & Besenova spas are overcrowded with local and Polish families with children. Slovakia unfortunately does not have proper sauna/spa culture in blood, these are often just mechanical imitations of western facilities.

Really nice mountains with great access by train, everything is in relatively short distance. Really nice small villages such as Stary Smokovec, Tatranska Lomnica. Easy hikes with kids on Strbske Pleso, Popradske pleso and Hrebienok and other beautiful places such as Zelene pleso, Skalnate pleso etc.
Very recommend. You can arive to Danielov dom by train. There is a privat station next to the house. Very spacios, clean and cosy house. Peter, Alexandra and Simona are very friendly hosts. Hot Thub is a good idea after swimming in the lake near Svit. We walked to Strbska lake , Skok waterfal, Belyanska cave, Gerlach's pick , Belavodska valley from Lysa polyana. We had 1 week and it was not enough time to visit all the interesting places around. The evenings are cool even in the hotest wether. We've enjoyed very much.
We have enjoyed our stay in the Grand hotel however the hotel didn't met our expectations completely. The breakfast was the highlight of our stay, very good choice of food although the hot buffet (omelette/eggs requests) wasn't attended when we wanted to put the order in. Otherwise everything was fresh and we enjoyed the breakfast.
The rooms were clean and spacious.
The location of the hotel is perfect, not far from the train station and close to many restaurants and cafes with beautiful views of the mountains.
It is a unique place to come at all times of the year! Hidden in high Tatras this hotel offers high-quality acommodation for travelers who search for both adventures and relaxation. Comfortable room, clean bathroom. Wellness area has a jacuzzi for 4 people, 2 saunas and a great view to the mountains. We also had a classical massage which was great after hiking. Very good breakfast options and great dinner for 22 eur / person. However, the most amazing is the surroundings and various hiking trails.
this is the most beautiful place we have been so far. the hotel is located on a beautiful peaceful lake there are many trails going from the hotel. there is a wonderful terrace and dining room. the room are very comfortable and the staff is very helpful. we had a great great stay. wonderful location a facility! very recommended! take the shuttle on the way there it’s 10 euro per person. and walk on the way back.
Very friendly service at the reception desk.
Amazing view to the Rysy mountain and a wonderful natural surrounding.
The food fits perfectly to the mountain hiking activities. Very tasty.
Unfortunately we had to leave right one night after we arrived due to a private emergency. So we were offered to use the reminaing days the next time when we come. Superb. Thank you very much Horsky Hotel.
The most lovely and accomodating staff, who spoke excellent English. Super cosy and clean rooms, with more than enough space for me. Wifi was great across the whole property. Kitchen was very well equipped. Lovely views from my window as well.
Property right by the electric rail stop and less than 2 minutes walk into town as well.
Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I originally reserved a bungalow but they upgraded the 2 of us to a room in the hotel. It was a big room with a kitchen and living room and a jacuzzi tub.
Buffet style meals exceeded my expectations and the sauna area was smallish but never overcrowded.
Perfect location, right on the yellow line to the falls and not far from the red line to go towards Rysy.
As a solo traveller, got a very good deal, as the price of the room was discounted for my stay here. The facilities are all new, and the bedroom was clean, comfortable, with it's own bathroom and shower, of hotel standard. It's in a good location too for those interested in exploring the Tatras Mountains.
The apartment's location is exceptional with the beautiful view of the mountains. They are several restaurants and also supermarket within 2 mins walking. The room was very clean and spacious. We would definitely recommend the apartment to our family and friends
This hotel is in a great location. We had a lovely Mountain View and it was quiet, but close to everything. We got lost because of some detours and the manager came to find us, which is really nice. The staff is kind, the breakfast was very good.
Building has fantastic location in Štrbské Pleso. Easy location. Plenty of parking. One bedroom with bed for 2, two single beds in main room, two couches that could even sleep some more. Clean and all basic amenities provided.
We visited this hotel for 3rd time and again enjoyed our stay here. Apartment is equipped with everything you might need. The rooms are spacefull and nicely furnished. Hotel has private parking lot.
We liked everything, the view from our room where you can see the mountains, the wellness spa, the breakfast is very various. Near to the hotel is lake where you can take a wake in the morning :D
