The hotel is located within walking distance of restaurants, cafes, the Gotland Museum, two beautiful parks, the local tourist information center, and the waterfront with breathtaking sunsets. It is an old building with quirky decor and a lovely front patio with seating. The breakfast buffet included a variety of items including fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, herring, meats, and cheeses. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Hotell St. Clemens was exceptional in all aspects. The staff were knowledgable, professional, genuine, kind, and so very helpful. The site itself, occupying several buildings, and built right up to the Old Town fortifications was fabulous. Every possible guest need had been anticipated, all the courtyards and public areas were charming, inviting, and well maintained, plus the location in 'Old Town' put everything in walking distance. Probably the best aspect of the stay for us was breakfast. Beautifully presented with a tremendous variety of well-prepared foods it was a treat for the palate and the senses. Hotell St. Clemens was the absolute best of five locations we stayed in Sweden.

Fantastic location by the sea and Visby city center in the wonderful Almedalen park. The breakfast was one of the best we have had at a hotel. You could eat inside or outside overlooking the pretty park, Almedalen. Our family room was decorated so nice and cozy as was the rest of the hotel.

A very interesting place with lots of history especially...
A very interesting place with lots of history especially from the Hanseatic times. The city walls alone are so impressive, as are the old church ruins and the old houses preserving the historical atmosphere. At the same time it is a lively location with nice places to enjoy a coffee or a dinner. Am very glad I finally visited and can definitely recommend.

Visby is easy to be without a car, we walked everywhere.
Visby is easy to be without a car, we walked everywhere. Apart from the centre with all of the historical buildings we went for a walk to the cliffs which was incredible. Another place to walk is a promenade with beautiful views. We also visited a library which is exceptional and also have a cafe. We were in pizzeria Milli Lire in the centre with fantastic pizza and service. We highly recommend Italian restaurant Isolabella where we went for lunch buffet fro food and service. There are some nice shops with locally made products that we recommend.

We loved Visby!
We loved Visby! There were excellent restaurants with reasonably priced food. The town is so picturesque and feels authentic almost like we had stepped back in time. We loved wandering around and seeing the town and the ruins of the churches. We wanted to visit each of the gates and it was delightful to walk around the outside of the wall and get the since of its height. We were delighted with the botanical garden, it was small but lovely. The museums were very good and helpful. We especially enjoyed the part of the ancient artifacts, the Viking graves and picture stones which we then were able to see in situ as we explored the island. We were there mid Oct. some things were closed but on the other hand there were very few people and was uncrowded.

Oh, Visby is magical and I must return for a longer stay in the future. The cobblestone streets, the parks, the walk around the wall, the restaurants. The ruins, the museum were great. We absolutely loved it. Big enough to have plenty to do and see, small enough to do it at a relaxed pace.

I loved everything about Visby, I was there alone I need it...
I loved everything about Visby, I was there alone I need it a break. And I was amazed by the beauty of the landscape, people were very lovely, very helpful. Very calm, a lot of things to see, very unique cafés, a lot of parks, wall tower should be definitely in your list, interesting story! And also during the sunsets you should be at the beach it was a life performance from the birds everyday :) I will definitely visit Visby at some point during the summer time!
The cabin is the loveliest place - really beautifully designed, with lots of fascinating little features. It was in a charming wood near the sea, and just a few minutes to a rocky and sandy beach which we could walk along for miles. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, and they made our stay really special. Gotland is a magical island - a lovely natural setting and a long and interesting history. The walled medieval town of Visby, a 10-minute drive or 40-minute cycle from the cabin, was endlessly fascinating.
The apartment was neat and fairly clean. We had a top-floor balcony with a great sunset view over the sea. The walk to Visby old town was short and pleasant, and the airport bus stopped right outside. The beds were comfortable, the surroundings were peaceful and we slept well. A fairly large supermarket and a couple of restaurants are even closer than the old town. The kitchen was reasonable, and especially the refrigerator was normal size and had a freezer compartment. The apartment wifi connection was excellent.
The view from probably the tallest resident building on Gotland is WOW. From the terrace on the 11th floor is huge and you can sit in the lounge sofas and overlook the landscape and the sea for hours without getting bored. The beds are also a highlight, you use a remote controler to adjust your bed position. Within walking distance down the hill you reach the seaside restaurant for lunch or dinner. The flat has everything you need for a happy holiday on Gotland
The hotel itself was amazing in a beautiful and historical building. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and took the time to show us our room personally as well as the amenities available. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, and the breakfast was amazing, including homemade breads and marmalades, and local ingredients like eggs from Gotland. This was one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed in!
The center of Visby is very accessible from this property if you plan to rent a bike or a car. A cab to the center (we used Taxi Gotland) costs around 150 SEK one way. The beach in front of the property is clean and nice, the water is not clear, it has a lot of algae.
The apartment we stayed in was as expected from the pictures uploaded by the property. It was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space.
This was the cleanest place we have stayed in Sweden. The lady owner was incredibly nice, breakfast was really good and it was very nice and warm and cosy which we appreciated as it was very cold outside. She gave us tips where to go and we were in 2 good restaurants and despite the weather we enjoyed the stay very much. We highly recommend this place.
It’s priced great and convenient to the heart of Visby. The staff is very nice and helpful. The units we stayed in were efficiency units. Of course they were small but nicely set up. We only stayed one evening after arriving on a late ferry. After hours check in was super easy. Dog friendly property.
Location excellent. Good size studio apt. Parking outside Visby walls not more than 5 mins away. Beds comfortable even if top mattress had a tendency to glide a bit. Outdoor balcony nice but our weather prohibited sitting out there. Chairs hopefully have cushions during the summer months.
Fantastic location by the sea and Visby city center in the wonderful Almedalen park. The breakfast was one of the best we have had at a hotel. You could eat inside or outside overlooking the pretty park, Almedalen. Our family room was decorated so nice and cozy as was the rest of the hotel.
We've got early checkin. Room was exactly what we've asked (top floor sea view bath tub). Good quality wifi but not encrypted. Sound isolation excellent. room climate exellent. Front desk person drove us to airport with Visby town short of taxi, which is exceptional service.
The hotel is lovely, set around a garden courtyard. We booked a triple room that was large and comfortable. There is no elevator, but there are rooms on the ground floor.
The most unique hotel I've ever stayed in, with an antique and aristocratic feel. Close proximity to restaurants and you stay within the castle walls of Visby.
vast amount of space, could easily accommodate a larger party. facilities where fabulous and it was just round the corner of the best BBQ restaurant in Sweden.
We had a really nice stay at Hotell Slottsbacken. The rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast had a lot of choices, and the receptionist was very helpful.
