Rooms and bathrooms are a bit small but overall ok. Underground parking fairly spacious by European standards.

We really enjoyed the overall experience and Luis was wonderful when we checked in. The room was clean and had a comfortable bed with a balcony which was nice to be able to sit out in the morning and evening. The acceptance of our dog was great and she had ample space to walk in the grounds area.

A charming town and free from high rise apartment blocks or huge hotels. Full of character and interest. The beaches are close by and a few can be accessed by ferry about 15 minute ride away. Others by bus or uber.
A few restaurants really hit the spot: Come Na Gaveta, Pausa, O Castelo and Artefact.
The castle is worth a visit and most places are walkable. Comfortable shoes a must as the streets are cobblestones.

A lovely town with great restaurants and bars, shops and some lovely old buildings. Good public transport links - train, bus and boat - to nearby towns, villages and beaches. It can be busy, but it has a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Tavira is nice, but the stones polished by decades of cars and foot traffic made the sloping sidewalks/roads feel almost treacherous. This is not the location to get away from freezing rain. Some of the old area in the east side is undergoing upgrades to the water system, which means it may be dusty.

Cute little city full of 70 year old tourists.
Cute little city full of 70 year old tourists. Few restaurants other than Indian food. Little shopping. Beaches nice but very difficult to access. Pararia do barrill involves street parking then walking a half mile to a train which will take you 1 mile to the beach for 2eu each way. Or you can walk on a slanted broken walkway all the way. At the beach there is one overpriced restaurant.
Overall Tavira is Not family friendly at all.

We are scoping out retirement options so were looking for walkability and reliable public transportation. Tavira offers both! Local market is full of fresh meat, fish, fruits and vegetables along with wares such as baskets and cut flowers. Lots of restaurants and shops. Walking distance to train which we took to the eastern border then hopped a ferry to Spain for lunch. We opted out of the hotel breakfast and found a cafe across the river for coffee and avocado toast one day, another day we went to the Pingo Doce grocery store for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. We tried a different restaurant for dinner every night and every meal was fantastic. If we had to do it over again, we would not have rented a car. The metro, train and bus system is reliable and comfortable as well as much cheaper and less stressful.

Loved the Friendliness in this nice quaint old town, unfortunately the roads / streets were in process of being dug up & left rather unsafe ( we witnessed a lady falling).. lots of cobbled streets which were left unfinished. Hopefully they will complete soon for travellers & residents to enjoy this lovely town.
Lovely hotel. Staff kind and helpful. Room had a refrigerator and good wall A/C unit. Gorgeous view out on balcony of pool and resort with a distant ocean view. Breakfast was great. Plenty of fresh fruit, coffee, omelettes, cheese (especially the brie), breads and more. Nice staff there. Location was great. We walked everywhere in Tavira from there, and we were close to the road to go to other towns without having to drive in the tiny curving streets.
The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. The hotel was very tranquil and peaceful which was great at the end of a month touring and walking Portugal and Spain. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We loved the view from our room, with the garden and the ocean in the background.
The rooftop area was a lovely place to sit with a book, have a drink, and enjoy the room (and the sun!)
This is a great traditional bed and breakfast hotel, located centrally within the old town. My room, on the first floor, had a lovely balcony, an interesting view onto the street, and much needed aircon. It was also close to cafes and good restaurants. I'd recommend Tavira as a great place to stay - it seems more genuinely Portuguese - than other places on the Algarve - something l really appreciated.
Very nice small hotel, with a good location close to the dock where the ferries go to the island beach. Loved the town of Tavira, so charming, nice walks along the river. Rooms are maybe a little dated but immaculately cleaned. Breakfast was great with good options, outside seating available. Hotel has a restaurant, open for dinner, and it was popular.
A charming hotel with charming staff. More than met our expectations. Welcome personal, decor full of old world Portuguese character and seating indoor and out door areas comfortable and luxurious. Location perfect for exploring the town of beautiful Tavira and taking the ferry to the island beach.
It's amazingly comfortable for how small it is (we are a family of 5). The outside area makes the difference, it's really pleasant at night and early morning, with it's nice mango and avocado trees. The location is great to explore the coast of Algarve near Tavira.
The whole experience was one of relaxation, comfort and tranquility. The staff treated us like family, making sure we didn't want for anything. I have never been in a hotel that has paid as much attention to detail as I saw at Colegio. It was beautiful!
This hotel is a dream - the taste level and attention to detail is very very high. It feels truly boutique, from the art to the breakfast served in vintage china. I can't wait to go back! It's also right in the middle of Tavira, yet so quiet.
The location was very centrally located near Tavira and the outdoor pool was nice with a comfortable, shaded patio area adjacent. The breakfast buffet had a very good, extensive selection which is par-for-the-course at most Portuguese hotels.
São Paulo Boutique Hotel was the most beautiful, quaint hotel my partner and I have ever stayed in. The interior design was breathtaking, the room was so comfortable, clean, and unique, and the service was incredible. STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
We loved the décor of this hotel, so funky! It was new and very clean. Great location in old town, close to great restaurants and shopping. Very walkable to everything. Parking very convenient. A nice boutique hotel!
FANTASTIC!!!!! Huge apartment with everything you might need in Tavira. Very polite owner! The restaurant underneath has the best food I've tasted in Portugal. Highly Recommended!!!
Thank you for everything.
Friendly welcome clean and comfortable
Family owned but the gem is the staff
Excellent breakfast and great value for money

In Tavira
The location is the best. Right on the river at the ferry landing to the island. The breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed in over the course of 16 days. Our room faced the river.
It’s hard not to be in the center of Tavira when staying there for vacation but this hotel is literally right smack in the middle of the town. Simple, welcoming and functional.
Lovely breakfast! Best we had during our trip in Portugal. And the place is so quite and rustic! It's walkable to the centre but feels like the countryside.
