We had a wonderful time at the Casa Da Lava. With Paola’s information (Google Maps pin and house number) the house was easy to find, even at night. It was absolutely beautiful, clean and comfortable. The wi fi worked perfectly, so did the hot water (no problems with pressure or temperature), and it is NOT filled with insects as other reviews say, we saw a couple but that is only normal when you have nature around (I do not like insects and had no issues). This place is not ideal if you are looking for a modern minimal vibe, but if you like romantic country houses it is very beautiful and we strongly recommend it.

A hostel in a monastery?! Worth staying for that alone. The staff was very accommodating, the hostel was clean, there’s free breakfast, and it’s close to the city center.

The house is beautiful and very clean. It is in a safe area so we did not feel uncomfortable arriving late at night. The house has everything you need, with plenty of space.
The best part, however, were the hosts. Elisa and Manuel gave an incredibly warm welcome, and even had us over for dinner on the last night. They are very warm people and made our stay unforgettable. We will absolutely stay at their house any time we return to Pico.
Muito obrigada!!

The house is beautiful and very well equiped. The views from the house are simply spectacular and beautiful. A nice place to rest and enjoy the landscape and sea views of Pico Island. We only stayed for 2 nights but we realise that it's a place to stay longer.

The ocean is crystal clear. The mountain is absolutely spectacular. Everything is green and the flowers are beautiful. The subtropical temperature is perfect. People are very nice, and many speak English. It is very reasonably price to eat out. Things are very slow paced, which is great for those seeking piece and quiet on vacation.

What a sweet island.
What a sweet island. We personally loved the tranquility and feeling of having the island to ourselves. We spent the first week of September here and were absolutely thrilled to be able to hike Pico, scuba dive with Twin Peak Dive Center, join Futurismo on a tour of the island (including a private wine tasting!), and enjoy the local cuisine.

The town is small by charming. The nature is wonderfull.
The town is small by charming. The nature is wonderfull. Pico mountain is really impresive. You can also walk along the rocky ocean shore and take a bath in a natural basin.
The only negative side is lack of store and restaurants. There is few restaurants/snack bars. But sometimes the kitchen is closed even in lunch time. Even though Pico island is my favourite :)

Michelangelo is a great host, very helpful and friendly. The room was big and clean with great sea view. The hotel has a fully furnished kitchen for the guests to use and a fridge. Washing and drying machine available at payment. We recommend the place even if the location is not central has Madalena
The location of the hotel offers stunning views. The hosts Noemia and Gonçalo welcomed us so warmly. They gave us tips, helped us organize activities and have been so helpful. They're wonderful people and gave us an excellent welcome to Pico. I’d highly recommend staying here.
The biggest asset of this accommodation is the fantastic hosts, Luis and his wife Ana. I have never met someone so nice, friendly and helpful. They helped us with so many things, many thanks! Will definitely return to beautiful São Roque do Pico and this accommodation :-)
The hotel is lovely but the best part about Sara Village is Miguel Angelo! He went out of his way to help us find alternative lodging when our Pico camping trip got cancelled. Miguel Angelo’s warmth and sincerity made it extra special.
Gonçalo is a really nice and helpful host. He gave us every information and insidertips we needed. It was a pleasure to stay at his Hotel. The rooms are big and comfortable. The breakfast is great.
Michelangelo is a warm and welcoming character, and the hotel is nicely located, with an idyllic hammock and picnic spot overlooking the sea with a lovely view to Sao Jorge island. Great stay.
