Very friendly and helpful staff, nice pool and breakfast, clean room, parking space, well cared outer spaces, restaurant recomendations, and one thing that I personally value: nets to keep mosquitoes away from the room.

The location is truly breathtaking, the only thing you hear are birds and crickets, absolute silence. The sunset view over the plain is a work of art and during nightfall, the sky is full of stars, be prepared to be amazed with it. Breakfast was really good and the staff was incredibly nice. One of the best places I've stayed in Portugal so far.
The exclusive Casa Pinto is located in the historic town of Monsaraz and is decorated with antiques.

Perched high on the mountain of Monsaraz the views are amazing. The old stone building has been tastefully decorated. Clean comfortable &. very unique. Visit the terrace on the roof for sunset. A delicious breakfast is served downstairs hosted by a lovely local lady. There are a couple of good restaurants close by, try Sahida. it’s excellent. You can drive up to the front door to unload. Lots of parking at the entrance of the village.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the Horta Da Coutada is a small guest house offering rustic accommodations in the pretty village of Telheiro, 0.6 mi from the medieval town of Monsaraz.

Incredible stay. Beautiful home with incredible views. Comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Amazing that we were the only guests this night. Highly recommend 😊
Wonderful, fantastic. I loved the peace and harmony that one can breathe, Monsaraz at the top of the Monte, and the company of the chickens, ducks and turkeys. I wrote in peace, in the company of my friends and with the guidance of the stars of a fantastic sky, the likes of which I had never seen.

A day is all you need for the city of Monsaraz.
A day is all you need for the city of Monsaraz. If you want to explore Reguengos and it's vinyards then you may not need to stay in Monsaraz itself which is difficult with cars.
We visited the week leading into Easter Sunday and very few restaurants were open in the evening, in fact we only found one so be prepared to wait and have limited choices

Nice castle. Be sure you research your stay options.
Nice castle. Be sure you research your stay options. There are rooms at the castle itself as well as nearby houses. The hotel we stayed at was a bit overpriced and disappointing.
Views are incredible from the top. 2 hours is enough to have reserved lunch at the castle and then walk around the grounds for photos. Or 1 hour without lunch. Parking is tricky and we parked near the bottom and walked 10 minutes up the hill

Monsaraz, the graceful medieval village of Monsaraz,...
Monsaraz, the graceful medieval village of Monsaraz, maintains the magic from ancient times like few others in the world. Made of lime and schist, this place whispers us, between the echo of our footsteps in its streets. A lot of magnificent stories could be told about its courageous kings, Knights Templar, brave people and dames of simple beauty.
Now the night is covering you with its cozy blanket of stars. Sit down at one of the restaurants in Monsaraz. Taste the best traditional Alentejo food, like the crumbs or the lamb. As for Alentejo wine, savour a good Reserva Monsaraz with your meal. The view over Alqueva Lake completes the sensory nirvana. Don’t finish your night without admiring the show of constellations and planets, which shine more intensely on the sky.

Monsaraz is genuinely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. It felt like stepping back in time to a slower pace of life, a rustic, cobbled haven with the most fantastic 360 degree views of the lake, valley and the castle on top of the hill. It is well worth putting on your alarm to wake up for the sunrise when the village is still asleep and watching the place wake up including the animals on the distance. It was spectacular. The food was local and very rustic and delicious using produce from the Alentejo (we ate at Sabores de monsaraz and were hosted by Isabel, a local lady with a small but delicious local menu). The wine was also really good. It was incredibly hot (45 degrees) so would maybe be better to visit outside of the summer months. The vineyards surrounding monsaraz were beautiful we had a very special meal at Esporao, which is well worth the money having the 7 course tasting menu and accompanying wine flight, it felt like immense luxury whilst capturing the charm Portuguese food and produce. The village itself doesn’t have a shop for essentials so my advice would be to drive to reguengos de monsaraz prior to your stay to stock up on water and snacks so you can relax when you get there. It truly was a magical place to stay for a few nights.

A small walled village set atop a hill, with 360 degrees of absolutely stunning views. Not a huge amount to do in the village proper. The castle for sure. Also some excellent wine shops selling local wines (check out Ar d’Alentejo). Taverna os Templários is a must stop for lunch or dinner.
Cars can’t be parked in the village during the day, but there are several lots right outside the walls with easy access to the village.
We spent a day exploring nearby Neolithic dolmens and menhirs, lots to see within a half hour drive.
overall everything is peaceful and cozy. it’s a farmhouse property that has been redone to modern tastes with a quirky, designer’s touch. they provide and serve a generous and varied breakfast of fruits, eggs, bacon, and breads with Portuguese and Brazilian twists — far superior to the typical American hotel breakfasts. The eggs are sourced from their own chickens. the views and surroundings are quite beautiful and peaceful. you’re situated in a small charming village with three restaurants.
A truly individual property. I fell in love with this lovely cottage - the design and attention to detail is stunning. I especially loved the beds as we often find that sleeping in Portugal isn’t the best experience as the beds are generally a lot harder than what we are used to at home - these were super comfy! Great location to explore the local area by car, then come home, dump the car and eat in lovely, friendly restaurants within very easy walking distance. We loved it!!!
A very clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation, just a few minutes drive from Monsaraz. The rooms were large, modern, well equipped and perfectly air conditioned. We stayed in the adult only rooms, across the road from the main complex, the rooftop terrace with small infinity pool is perfect for cooling down after a long day. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will certainly return.
This place is exceptional. It was one our best stays on our trip to Portugal, I couldn't recommend it more. It is a stunning property, the staff and food was great. Everything is beautiful, from the rooms, where you eat, the bike trails and where you can relax and have a drink watching the sunset. There is a beautiful town nearby that you can visit during your stay.

Honestly, there's not much to add to my 10 points. São Lourenço Barrocal, in my opinion, is the best hotel in Portugal. It couldn't be better, how the local natural landscape bounds it, the comfort, the staff, the food, and the attention to the smallest details. It was our third year in a row, and I hope to continue to come back every year.
Beautiful guesthouse run by wonderful welcoming hosts who could not have done more for us.
Located a short walk from the gorgeous hilltop village of Monsaraz with stunning views from the pool
Lots of superb restaurants on the doorstep.
Scrumptious breakfast.
Well located in the village - easy to walk around and see everything Monsaraz has to offer! What a little gem of a town and this home makes it that much better! The host was wonderful, helpful and easy to communicate with!
The staff at this property were so nice. The hotel has a stupendous view with comfortable, but small rooms. The breakfast is one of the best of our whole 2 month trip. We would recommend this hotel.
Great quiet location where you can really relax. The facility has two pools and a nice eating breakfast area. walking distance to three good restaurants and view to the Monsaraz castle
Great location to Monsaraz, which we loved.
The lady that greeted us on arrival & organised breakfast was excellent. Very Clean property & the fridge & kettle in room was welcomed.
Charming boutique hotel in a great location in Monsaraz! Right in the main square!
Casa pinto is quirky and cute! Art and sculpture abound in all the spaces
