From beginning to end we felt at home in a beautifully designed and comfortable home away from home set in the countryside.

Linhares was just the type of old village we wanted to experience. There is one real restaurant, the Cava do Loba. It rates a 10 with gourmet food, excellently prepared, and sold at moderate prices. Two people could have main courses, maybe a starter, 3 total glasses of wine, and be under 60 Euros. If we lived within 150 km of Linhares we would be regular patrons.

The location is great and the hotel is very impressive at first glance.
All room doors have gaps and thus noise carries easily between the rooms.
No separate shower and no option to hang the shower head.
WiFi is very poor.
Breakfast consisted of only basic items, no fresh bread, juice or meats and specifically only horrible instant coffee.
The hotel consists of two former houses, connected by a corridor. The architect made a superb job the conversion, blending the old and the new. The grounds were lovely, and well maintained. The swimming pool area was great for relaxing.
Juliana was particularly pleasant and informative, when serving us drinks and snacks, in the bar/lounge area.
The hotel was in a lovely old building in a beautiful village in the Beira. I imagine the views are fabulous when it's not raining! The room was very nicely furnished and decorated and warm. There was a lovely garden and in better weather, the pool looked good too. Breakfast was good with a lavish portion of freshly scrambled eggs!
We chose this place quite randomly and didn't have any expectations. When we arrived, we were stunned with the room and the service we got. The hotel is located in a little fairytale village. The room was huge and the views from the windows were spectacular. Plenty of places around for hiking and other activities.
Incredible colonial hotel in a beautiful medieval mountain village. Extremely comfortable, super clean, excellent buffet breakfast with coffee including cappuccino. Our 4th floor room offered stupendous views of the valley. Lots of pillows & hot water.
Breakfast was well above average for hotels in Portugal. The location and aspect was one of the best features. I am sorry we could not stay longer. Given the quality, I though the value was quite good.
Having clicked the wrong year on our booking the hotel were not expecting us. Despite this they booked us into a superior room at the same price and could not have been nicer.
The grounds of the hotel were nice and the village, although remote was beautiful and quaint. The room had direct access to the garden and was spotless.
