With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.
King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors. The Old Town is circled by medieval walls, typical narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares. B&B’s and hotels in Lagos’s historic centre allow you to enjoy these picturesque surroundings.
Apart from being an important centre for sailing, the city has amazing beaches, like Meia Praia or Praia da Dona Ana. Resorts and hotels on Lagos’ beaches are the perfect choice for sun lovers, while the hotels near the modern Lagos Marina are popular, as they are both close to the centre and the railway station.
The city is 90 km from Faro Airport, and 24 km from Portimão. Check out the Lagos hotels deals on Booking.com before travelling!
The beaches & cliffs in Lagos are stunning. There are plenty activities for those wanting to spend time on the water. The city centre is not that big but there are a lot of good restaurants to visit. Ideal for a relaxing beach holiday

Lagos is a beautiful old city with modern hotels and apartments outside the walled centre.
There are plenty of beaches and experiences to be seen and a fabulous board walk on both Meia Praia and Camilo .
Public transport is great with buses to most locations. The blue route links from Poto da Mos via Donna Anna to Meia Praia .
There is an abundance of good quality restaurants , go for the more traditional small ones for authentic food. The marina has a good vibe and some nice bars serving food.
The zoo is worth a visit and is on a bus route

Lovely marina area with plenty of restaurants, the Lighthouse bar on the marina is good for food and reasonable prices. Old town has a large and varied choice of bars and restaurants. Good supermarkets. Easy to get around Ubers are cheaper than taxis. Seems to be a rise in the number of beggars mainly in the old town. Plenty of sea excursions available such as fishing, dolphin spotting and visiting caves.

Lagos is a lot less touristy than some other surrounding towns. There's plenty of bars and restaurants in the old town and the marina.
Lots of beaches to choose from. On one side you have the longest beach with holden sands. And on the other, lots of small beaches in between the cliffs. Some can only be reached by boat or kayak.
Top of the cliffs offer spectacular walks along the wooden paths offering breathtaking views.

Lagos is an interesting city, with a lively city center and lots of attractions and restaurants but also magnificent nature thanks to the beaches and cliffs of Ponta da Piedade. There are plenty of one day trips to go on nearby such as Sagres, Silves, Benagil, Alvor, etc.

Beautiful beaches and grottos.
Beautiful beaches and grottos. Great restaurants, fish market, and boardwalks for walking and biking. It would have been easier to explore neighboring towns with a car. We felt limited without one. The people are so kind and considerate and laid-back. The weather in April was beautiful but too cold for swimming.
We spent a week in Lisbon, Tavira, and Lagos. Lagos was our favorite.
Exceptional place, the owners are just amazing. Nadia runs the house with so much love that you can feel it in each bite of her amazing pancakes or in the smile she has each day. You can instantly feel at home, with the comforts of a 5 star hotel. The stay, breakfast, and location exceeded all of my expectations.
The room was amazing, with my own patio where I could work or do some yoga completely private. Definitely the best place to stay in Lagos and will be back soon. Thank you so much for everything.
Amazing hotel. The location is fantastic and the room was lovely. We got an awesome private balcony facing the sea which I simply loved. The staff were also super helpful and kind. They showed us the best places to see and recommend places to eat. The staff really made our experience that much better! Would highly recommend this hotel and definitely planning to come back here when visiting Lagos.
Excellent quality/price ratio. The best breakfast in all our trip to Portugal, so many and so fresh products. Several salted and sweet home made cakes. everything was so delicious! Very clean property.
Typical southern Portuguese residence, very charming with all services and commodities and well located, walking distance to down town Lagos.
All services are those of a 5 star hotel.
The hotel is Adults-only which was so nice. Sitting outside by the pool or in front of our room or in the very nice lounge area was a luxury and there was so quiet and calm. The staff so friendly and helpful. The two maids made it a memorable stay, in the best way possible. It sfelt very much like a tranquil oasis in the the midst of the Lagos tourist chaos.
The staff were very helpful, pleasant and accommodating.
Lovely spacious areas both in the room and public areas.
Pool was clean and large.
Plenty of sun beds.
Prices for drinks and snacks in the hotel were extremely good.
Access to the centre of Lagos and Marina was easy.
Very picturesque.
Quiet at night (good thing)
The hotel is nicely decorated. Its warm but modern charm is really nice. The breakfast is great, you can choose from many great a la carte options and the staff is super friendly. The location is right across the marina and in walking distance of everything around Lagos. Definitely worth a stay.
The staff was excellent! Jose is the best! 😎
The hotel is very nice and clean, rooms are big and the beds very comfortable, breakfast was delicious, the pool was perfect (salty water).
Praia Porto de Mos is like 6 minutes walking and is a very nice beach.
The best hotel in Lagos! 🥰
Great location overlooking Lagos Marina. Rooms are a good size and well furnished with very comfortable beds. Lovely shower and good storage space in the bathroom. But, what helped make our stay in Lagos so enjoyable was the extremely friendly and knowledgeable hotel staff.
Everything about the hotel is excellent …staff, property, large room (recommend the duplex room for families), pool, pool bar & breakfast. the on site parking was also a plus. would definitely return for the perfect Lagos home base!
We had a good stay at Dom Pedro in Lagos. Beds are comfy. The rooms are big compared to modern hotels.
The city centre can be reached on foot in about 20 mins. The marina is about 15mins walking from the hotel.
Excellent hotel. Impeccable service. Spacious room. Complimentary mineral water and Nespresso. Beautiful pool. Close to the center of Lagos (5 min by car and around 30 min on foot). We highly recommend it!
Cozy and central. Very clean rooms and friendly staff. In the common kitchen there’s always coffee and fruit, which I found very nice. I will definitely come back to this hotel next time I’m in Lagos!
very nice hotel in a great location, close to all attractions in Lagos, nice comfortable bed, great breakfast. very friendly and helpful staff. convenient onsite parking included.
Staff, location and facilities were amazing. Rooftop pool overlooking marina is to die for. The breakfast is the best part, some of the best breakfast I’ve ever had.
